Doma = your primary residence.
Dacha = your country house (shed, shack, etc.) on a plot of land outside the city where you cultivate a garden.

If you ever go to St Petersburg you might notice a lot of tiny little shacks outside of the city that are maybe 8'x8' typically.  When I saw them from the air I thought maybe they were the  homes of very poor people, rather than little vacation homes. I had always pictured a dacha as something much nicer.  Think of the treehouse you built as a kid.  A dacha is not quite that good.

Bubba,
Not all dachas are shacks.  My In-Laws have a rather nice one in a near by village that is pretty neat.  Rustic but nice and roomie.  My Grandparents had a cottage on Lake Erie in Canada that was worse.  I still cherish the memories of summers spent there.

I've only been a couple of places, but that's how it looked outside St Petersburg.  In Latvia I didn't see anything like that.  As a matter of fact, I could not believe how prosperous Latvia was by comparison.  There were a lot of country homes that looked about 4000 square feet or more.  Latvia really did not look poor.
