How difficult is it to do and how much time does it take?

I arrive Gatwick (LGW) at 9:55 and depart Heathrow (LHR) at 13:35.

I do the reverse upon return but with much more time between flights.

Arrive LHR at 22:35 and depart LGW 9:40 the following morning.

Any suggestions as to how to kill 11 hours?

All help is appreciated.

The time difference between the LGW arrival & LHR departure is very tight. You may want to take a taxi for the link. Your nationality is important as this will determine how quickly you will clear customs. The date of your travel will determine how busy the roads are. Which LHR terminal? There are regular ½ hour bus shuttles between LGR & LHR. It depends if your flight is on time.

For the return trip you may just be best to stay at a hotel near LGW.

I had a six hour layover in London last year and it was just enough time to spend a few hours around Buckingham Palace. It was only 45 minutes from Gatwick by train.
