In one of LP's messages a few months ago, he said that he was making his last post.  I expect he will return at some future date.  It was an obscure post way down in a discussion thread.

... in response to LP is gone for now, posted by BubbaGump on May 2, 2002

I think his goodbye message was deleted because it was in a long thread with a bunch of arguments.  I did a search but didn't find it.

I liked how he worded what we could expect for the future relative to his participation on the board. He described himself as being in the winter of his time on this board. He never did fully explain why. I have some ideas but will not put them to print.

LP to me was one of the most entertaining people here. He could get away with things without as much retaliation because of this I suspect.

I for one miss his lack of presence. I loved his way of wording things. And, those attacked by LP took it pretty well - amazingly there were never was any childish wars that resulted.

Hey LP

May he rest in peace. I never did see where he contributed too much positive to these discussions except to provide a good example of how not to approach certain subjects. I wish him well in his quest but...

Here was my favorite:

"that face you see in the pointy end of your next plane ride could be mine. (Then again, I'm sure many here would prefer to see me become a lawn dart.)"

The John Wayne quote was also good: "Life is hard...Real hard if you're stupid."

I never thought of Dulles as a big international hub.  I thought you would just be going from ATL to Gatwick.  I got great connections with British Air but I've never checked out flights to Ukraine.  Delta just had special fares to Europe but you only had about 4 days to act.  How many people plan trips to Europe that fast.  You could buy way ahead of time though.

but there were so many different ways to do it I was going into analysis by paralysis, and every single option was running me $1300-1500 no matter how I did it, not to mention, that the prices were going up, the farther out I put it, so I just gave up and called red star travel.

tanya jensen got everything done for $1292, which included express visa processing, and the exact dates I wanted - 19th thru the 30th, with no crazy lay overs.  (svo is 8 hrs but i'm working that one out).  funnier still, they did it with me paying for the thing using postal money orders, because I didn't want to put the trip on the cc (hanging on to it for back up).

I was absolutely amazed at how she got this thing done...  that's a great outfit, and they know what they're doing.

It will take you all of about 5 minutes to go through the Passport control channels (if you are accompanying her, you both can go through the US citizen line) - and then another 15 minutes for them to process the paperwork - and you're done.

Good luck to you.

not there at this stage of the game, just first trip over.  I was quite satisfied not having to mess around with nasty jfk - once in that place is enough for a lifetime.

Thanks a lot.
