I am seriously contemplating filing a DCF in Ukraine to get Elena back here with me. I just wanted to know if there is anyone that has recently done it other than the one reposted by Dan. Since time is very important and the certification of divorce papers from all the different Departments could be time consuming I wonder about the possibility of marrying her in another country that she could easily enter with out much problem and bring the marriage certificate back to the Kiev US Embassy and use that marriage certificate in applying for the visa using a DCF. Maybe marrying in Turkey, Poland, Hungry, or some other place that would be easy to marry. This would eliminate going throught ZAGS if that is possible. But I don't know. Any comments? I heard of a expat American that recently got married in the Orthodox church and was given a marriage certificate and told me that he would be using that to apply for a visa but he was not very specific. He just told me that he thought the US Embassy in Kiev would accept it. I don't relish the thought of marrying in the Orthodox church but might select another one that was established there. Other than that I really don't know what to do to speed up the process. I have been working on applying for the K-1 but keep leaning towards the DCF. I have all the paperwork ready (almost) for the K-1 but haven't filed yet since I will be going back to Ukraine April 1 so I am trying to get everything ready for a ZAGS marriage if possible in the two or three weeks that I will be there. I am open to any and all suggestions if anyone has any. Thanks to Dan we have talked a little about this. I am just getting a little impatient.
By the way for those that want to live in Ukraine. I know that many have thought how to do this and the only way I think would be best is too hook up with another expat and do this together or if you have a RW then do it with her. I now intend to go back to somewhere in Eastern Europe and find a place to live. I prefer Ukraine since I have been very familiar with it. I am near the age of early retirement and plan to finish my years between USA and Eastern Europe. I have to get myself setup for fulfilling that plan.
