If she has an international passport - which she will need for entry into Poland - and to present to the US Embassy for the K-1 visa - that is all she needs to exit Ukraine (valid Ukrainian international passport with a US visa in it).

At the POE in the US, she will need to provide the sealed package she received from the US Embassy along with her Ukrainian passport.

If you are traveling with her when she enters the US for the first time - be sure that the two of you go into the lines for US citizens. A fiance qualifies as "family" and the INS will not separate foreign residents from their American families in the entry lines. It will save you a LOT of time waiting.

Are you accompanying her back to the US? Will you be departing from Poland or Ukraine? Not that either of tehse makes a whole lot of difference, but there are some subtle differences that may be of interest to you.

I hope this helps.

That Poland now required a visa for Ukrainian people to enter the country.  Maybe I was misinformed but I thought I read that recently.

Poland, like numerous other former Soviet vassal countries (Lithuania, Hungary, Czech Republic, etc.) is trying to be admitted into the European Union. In their efforts, they have numerous issues to overcome.

A few of these countries have already imposed visa requirements on Ukraine (within the last 2 years), under the guise of meeting the EU requirements. Hungary and Czech Republic come immediately to mind.

Poland will, no doubt, feel the pressure to do this as well. As of this writing, however, there is still visa-free travel for Ukrainian citizens to Poland.

Have no doubt, we will hear about Poland instituting any such requirement long before it actually is enforced - if for no other reason than the US Embassy in Kyiv will (probably) have to staff-up to meet the demands of taking on the workload that the Warsaw Embassy will shed.

Be aware that the US Embassy in Warsaw processes many other types of travel documents for Ukraine residents to come to America. When Olya and I were there last April, we saw many more adoptive children being processed than we did K-1 fiances. All these issues, and more, must be addressed if Poland is to require visas. It is no small task.

Maybe this is what you read: http://www.planet-love.com/wwwboard/results.php?page=russian&archive=00147&post=63979&bold=visa|poland It's from Spyke and says a visa will be effective July 1, 2003. Take it for what it's worth and please don't shoot the messenger.
