Here is the very first Russian language text for Pimsleur Russian I. You have to have the audio lessons to use this text. This Russian language dialog is an accompaniment to the audio lessons and is necessary for those of us who are visual learners to be able to utilize the Pimsleur Russian Language course.

I don't condone stealing software or copyright material. There used to be some sites but most of them have been shut down and Pimsleur is not that common.

That's great barry, ahhh what does it say:)  ha  Mila has started giving me lesson in Russian, da, meeting yes and net, meeting no. she told me when I could spell those two words , she would give me two more. Smiley Really , she did.

You'll have to purchase the Pimsleur Russian language audio course. The first 8 lessons can be purchased at a bookstore for around $25 but the full 30 lesson course is expensive.

You can probably get Pimsleur Russian I Comprehensive in CD format for around $150 on eBay. You could possibly email LP at jetjock11@hotmail.com and see if he still has his lessons for sale. It's good that you are going to learn from a native speaker. Hopefully she will keep on you about pronunciation. It's possible to almost speak like a native after a few years but you have to learn the correct pronunciation early because it's hard to undo bad learning.

Yes she keeps on me about pronunciation, I am lucky that she has her own computer. we use pal talk with a video cam, so we can see each other and talk to each other. we were on pal talk yesterday for about three hours.

I've used pal talk before. It's pretty good. I chatted with a gal in Bulgaria using it.

You may want to have her send you some grade school language books for you to learn with. If you decide to have more kids with her you'll have to books to bring them up bilingual. Russian is a tough language to learn. It is supposed to be the sixth hardest.

Good luck with the learning. BTW, no is pronounced nyet, not net.

You know , that is what I thought, but she keeps giving it to me spelled net. I am going to ask her about that. I know I have seen it spell nyet also.

This website has the Russian alphabet with pronunciations. The voice is computerized and kind of funny but you get the general idea.

I also have a sheet that explains the pronunciation of the Russian alphabet. If you want I can e-mail it to you. I don't think I'll ever pronounce things properly but I am becoming understandable to Russians.

This is a personal page for the head of the Russian Department at Middlebury College in Vermont.  Middlebury has, or atleast had, an excellent reputation for teaching languages.   This page is not quite as good as the one posted by Barry M, but might prove interesting.

The actual pronunciation for e is like "yeah". The funny thing is that most words that don't start with "e" are pronounced as "eh" and ones that start with "e" are always pronounced "yeah". Нет is an exception.

Those are simple concepts. Wait to you get into genders and declensions. It will drive you up the wall.
