Tim,
my wife was a big city girl and I'm not gonna lie they really love the city life! But now that she is here she realizes that the country life ( small town ) is rather nice, but she only needs to do some big city shopping every so often to be happy. She is so very impressed with the fresh air and the wild animals we have here in Ohio. I even took her bow hunting for deer and rattled and grunted one right to us while she excitedly watched everything. Now she wants to be a deer hunter ( when the weather is nice out ) She even spent 3 hours helping me track this thing down with a flashlight. Anyways these kind of things can be delt with but you must try to please them with there needs and in return they will realize your work to make them happy and they can adjust, just give it time and explain the life before you bring one here.

Man I left that part out on purpose, I was sooo pissssed! Dang coon hunters came into the woods just moments after I shot it and put that deer in high gear. I finally lost it's blood trail after 3 hours and found it 2 days later with its rack cut off. Yea I feel lucky, if it's too cold for her she will still insist on me doing my hunting without her as she knows it's fun. What's funny I considered her a tree hugger when we first got here!

The tree huggers want everyone to give up technology, shed their clothes, and live in the jungle.

Yes and they contribute nothing ( or very little ) as far as money is concerned to the conservation of wild life where as the hunter spends a great deal through the purchase of license and amunition. Not only that they don't realize what happens to these animals if they are allowed to reproduce more then there is natural food to feed them. Plus you have crop damage to consider and in some cases vehicle damage or death.

Your correct in your approach, but I enjoy watching the people that sit in their trees (Protesting) with the cell phone to their ear talking to the press..  These people are crazy and should listen to Rush L. on the radio or something.  Our deer population here in Michigan is the biggest in recorded history.  All over this state and Ohio some hire sharp shooters to weed down the population of deer in parks, they give the meat to the food shelters.  We have deer that run around in the city of Detroit if you can imagine that.  The mountain lion in CA area is a fun one to watch.  The population is getting so big because we are no longer allowed to harvest them like we should.  They are attacking people and domestic animals.  Not being able to drill for oil in Alaska is another tree hugger debacle, not to mention the owl craze back a few years ago.  Not being able to cut down trees because that owl would not move or survived because they had to be in this certain tree etc…  The owl is now adapting and living in barns and such.  The tree hugger would die in the Jungle or even one of our local forests for that mater…

In Washington and Oregon too......it is a foolish man(or woman) who speeds at night. Mant many accidents of autos hitting deer as hit the first one this Fall. I have NEVER seen ANY wildlife in Russia and I hear of this from other posters at times. Have they been absolutely poached to extinction??  Even in "Lake Country" in Yoshkar-Ola 500 miles East of Moscow.....no squirrels, deer, no sign....nothing.      tim

When I was in the Ukraine and took the train from Kiev to Lugansk.  I also seen NOTHING not one wild animal except for a stray dog that looked wild.  It was sad. I even went fishing in Lugansk.  The fish were like minnows if any at all. Frogs but no fish...  I went walking in the wood to look for sign... Not a track not an eaten greenage nothing!  Not sure what is up with that....  Enevn the birds...  I didn't see any game birds and in the city pigions and cats...

After centuries of starvation,  I am sure much of the wildlife has become...dinner.  Some months ago I was somewhat surprised.  I live in New England.  I have many large flower and herb gardens which I built.  The 5 girls I communicate with were just amazed that I did not grow vegetables to eat...different letters very different girls,  but all spoke this 1 thing in the same voice.  They never peak in the same voice.  I explained that there are alot of deer nearby who would eat all the vegetables...so I don't try growing them.  I even sent them all a photo of the deer.  Again,  they all exclaimed back--- in again the same voice that...they had never seen such an animal before,  but they had heard that some do exist.  2 of them live in very remote areas in Northern Russia,  surrounded by forests.  1 had once seen a deer in a zoo.  All were amazed that I did not catch the deer to make a tasty dinner.  It is very seldom they all speak with 1 voice on any issue.  So,  I have a very strong feeling that many critters were consumed some time ago,  by people so hungry that the critters were never able to reproduce and produce issue.  My grandfather came here in the very early 1900's and told me,  when I was a kid...that there was no food and many people starved to death in his village---I am sure that every root,  tuber and critter was eaten over the years.  Conservation is really only for the saited...the starving ate anything they could.

Speaking of hunting, how do RW feel about firearms?  Would they be comfortable in the knowledge that I own a bunch of guns?  Obviously, I wouldn't venture this topic until I knew a woman quite well....  All of the AW I have dated have been fine with it (went target shooting with me) once they were sufficiently educated about the subject.

My wife loves going shooting with me! She is fasinated with the freedom of gun ownership here and wants to shoot every gun made if she could. I would tell her your hobbies are this and this and this and guns and this. Just throw it in as if it is nothing important.

I'm curious about this as well. I've only talked with a couple of ladies about hunting. One totally hated the idea. She even got mad at me when I killed a fly in front of her. Poor mookha! My ex-girlfriend thought hunting was okay but that she could never kill another animal. And yet she fished! Killing and butchering a fish was okay for her, but she hated the thought of doing the same to a cow or chicken. It didn't make her a vegetarian though. And they all seem to like fur coats and leather clothes.

The Russian guys thought it was pretty cool that I hunted and owned guns. I had my firearms license with me. I forgot to take it out of my wallet before I left the country. It's picture ID and they thought it was interesting.

My wife said she could never kill animals either! then after hunting deer with me it changed to " certain" animals. As time goes on I wouldn't be surprised if my wife becomes a hunting guide! (wink)
