Author Topic: Any K1/K3 info in Russian language?  (Read 1514 times)

I am working on getting my fiance a K1 visa and told her that it could take 4-6 months.  She is wondering whether getting married in Russia would speed up the process.  From what I read on internet, K1 is faster and preferred.  But I find it not so easy to explain to her.  Does anyone know any website written in Russian explaining the differences between K1 and K3?  Any help would be appreciated!

Unless things have changed in the last few weeks you can't file an I-130 unless you've lived in Russia for 6 months or more, that use to be a quick way to go before 9/11 ! Unless you know a way to get around ZAGS you'll have to wait 30 days to get married in Russia. I've heard of bribes working for this, and I've heard a letter from your employer stating you are needed back in the states and it is impossible for you to stay there for 30 days will sometimes speed this up for you?? Sounds like a lot of chances to take and the surrest way is the K-1. I have no idea if the American Embassy web page has a russian version, but they use to explain the different types of visa they issue and what is required.

P.S. if you find something simple and short, I'll ask my wife to translate it if she isn't too tired. ( she's still at work )We have English/Russian keypad

You can convert the English language websites into Russian language websites by using Pimsleur's on-line translator. It will convert an entire website to Russian. Granted, the translations are not perfect, but it should help.

Go to: http://www.translate.ru/eng/

You are correct in that, right now, the K-1 process is faster, although it seems like it takes forwever. use the waiting time well to prepare all of the needed documents, and to amass all of the money you are going to need! Once she gets here, you have more hefty sums to come up with for the AOS process. Again, use your time well!
