Hi.  I am planning my next trip to Russia and Ukraine..  I am thinking of travelling the Trans Siberian Vladivostock to St Petersburg or St P to Vlad...

Time is not an issue, but visa's are.  Has anyone here done this trip and what suggestions and avice to they have in regards to places to y visit towns to stop at, best time of year and such.  Is it worth visting Kazakstan and Uzbekistan?  I would want to also visit my freinds in Ukraine and can either do that first or after the Trans Siberian...  Is it best to travel alone or should I extend an invitation to a special friend to join me and pay for their return flight...  Any feedback (NO ABUSE PLEASE...  JACK/BARRM)

You can go Trans-Siberian from Vlad to Moscow or I think even start in China or Mongolia then on to Moscow (then changing trains to continue to St. Pete).

Let me see if I have the links...

Sorry, but Trans Siberian does not go to Kiev. You were horribly misinformed. Trans Siberian goes Moscow - Vladivostok.

You certainly can jump on another train and go Moscow-Kiev.
But don't mix two things together.

Are you aware that it is 7-days ride from Vladivostok to Moscow on the train? There are stops along the way which I would suggest doing like lake Baikal, but I think it is already trip in itself without even visiting Ukraine.

There are travel agencies who organiza Tran Siberian trips, if you are interested, let me know.

Some of the trips are 16/17 days but I would want to break up my travel a bit and spend some time inbetween...   What cities do you recommend...  and Should I travel from St P to Vlad or From Vlad to St P...

check this travel agency. You don't have to buy package from them, but they have the best cities along the way identified and you can use this information

I personally don't see any differencies travelling Moscow-Vlad or Vlad-Moscow, it all depends on your plans - if you want to visit somebody in European part of Russia or Ukraine first, than fly there and jump on the train afterwards. Or you can fly to Vladivostok through Korea and than take train to Moscow. Whatever suits you the best.

I visited your web site.  Not much information.  What more can you tell me about Vlad..  What is my best means of getting there?  Via Japan or China?
