My girl and I went to a party last night hosted by some local Russians last night.  Unfortunately, I had to go to work soon after so I could not stay long and the couple that we got in contact with said that they would take her home later.

Since I had been wanting my fiancee to make some new friends, I thought it would be a good idea for her to meet some local Russian and Ukrainian people.  When we got to this apartment it was really just beginning and there were about 8 or 10 Russians there (Mostly women at that point).

They all seemed to be very friendly and I had a good time while I was there and was sad to have to go to work but I think we should see more of this group at some other point as they get together about once a week to have some party.

When I got home from work I was interested to hear my fiancee's impression of the party and the people there.  She said that she had a good time and was actually tired of talking so much.  She said she thought that they had a lot of freedom.  What she meant was that she noticed that some girls there that were married or in a relationship would dance seductively with some other guys but as a kind of joke and my girl thought that this was a little strange behavior because my girl is very conservative and could not imagine such behavior in a relationship even if it was only in a joking manner.  She said "maybe if the people had known each other for many years it would be a little different but these people had only known each other for such a short time".

It was really interesting to listen to her give her description of the party.  I told her that it all depends on the people and situation but that maybe she was right and that it might be a little strange.  No need to put temptation into the mix.  And of course not all people were acting in this behavior but only a few.

I say all of this because it just goes to show how behavior and attitudes can be so different among people of similar culture.  Just something to think about.
