... in response to Newspaper adds......., posted by Ryan on Jan 23, 2002Ok ok... I'm no expert, but reverse profiling DOES generate results, such as posting your profile in a newspaper ad, or with a russian agency, but who on earth could trust anyone that's playing the icq game?
I've had almost three hundred responses to my own reverse-profile from great ladies in russia in the last 7 months. Some cute, some old, some good, (lots of real cute ones), some obviously.. well, let's drag out the scammer profiling sheet for you know what.
In my opinion only, anyone that is going down the Instant Messenger/ICQ/Joe BS communicator online route is taking an extreme risk. I'd like to see anyone here, that has MET their prospective love interest (a real one that worked out), via instant messaging on the internet. Just one.
It's hard enough to find an American woman this way, that's not a man "player", (with a contact list so long that it would crash any computer unless it's powered by the NSA), much less meet a real one overseas.
Ryan, man, take it easy on this... have fun if you want, but don't take all of this type of contact and interaction, so seriously. If she's (or the women) got icq, obviously, she'll have a way to contact her by telephone, talk to her relatives, or even talk to her through an interpreter, just to validate who she is.
And by the way, just because you don't believe in agencies, doesn't mean the agency route is bad, but rather that you're just a little biased. To each his own.
I'd be real careful and watch your ass.
