my hard disk

Perhaps some of you wizards of the keyboard can help me.
I want to reformat the computer and would like for my hard disk to be completely clean,
really clean, when I do start loading again.
Please what do I do.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you are using Windows, the drivers that came with your computer are needed to keep it running.

Better than doing a format c: is to locate your restore CD that came with your computer (most computers have one) This will have the option to wipe out everything on your computer and start from scratch -- exactly the way it came from your vendor.

Then use the Add/Remove Programs options under control panel to get rid of the rest of the stuff you don't want. (Deleting it from the C drive without this will not remove it from your windows Registry...)

This is the best way to "Start Over" with a Windows computer.

I did it a couple of weeks ago, myself. It took me about two days to get everything back on. You'll be amazed at all of the little programs you have added that you forgot about, and have to find the disks and CDs for...

BACKUP!!!  -  backup everything, including your e mails and address book, before you do anything else

Format c: will do it. Provided of course c is your local drive. From that point you disk will be blank. Once this is
done put a boot cd (windows or linux) in your drive and turn on you computer. Windows or linux will automatically detect your CD drive. From there you can reload the operating system.
