... in response to MOB Age Breakdown, posted by mdante99 on Dec 17, 2001Once again, if you look at the data it doesn't say what you are suggesting. First, the study is a 1996 study by a guy at the Univ of Florida who surveyed several agencies and made some extrapolations based on Filipino women. The guy ASSUMES the same percentages are applicable to RW. So there's no data on RW. Second, I think the motivations and culture of Filipino women and the men seeking such women are significantly different than RW and their AM suitors that it would be inappropriate to draw too much from his assumption about the "average age difference" between AM and RW. Finally, the number of agencies for RW has increased dramatically since 1996 as well as the ability of these women to access the internet for correspondence.
If someone really wants to get some reliable data, they should 1) count the K-1's issued from the FSU over the last 3 years and break it down by age; 2) of those who came to the U.S. on a K-1, how many applied for AOS broken down by age data and how many returned to the FSU or did not apply for AOS. That might be more reliable than looking at 5 year old studies on Filipinos. The INS did a study on that several years ago, but it was not specific as to the FSU women. Until that study is done, I think all we have is a lot of anecdotal data and in many cases incorrect generalizations.
