Has anyone used this product? I am looking for something to help Olga and her daughter with the English language. I haven't found it on Morpheus, Audiogalaxy or WinMX.

... in response to pimsleur Russian to English...anyone kno..., posted by JohnG on Dec 7, 2001

The first set of Pimsleur lessons are ok. It's when you start getting into II & III you have problems with them. If you decide to get them English lessons, it's much better for them to learn from an American or British teacher rather than from a Russian one. There are many Russians who understand written English quite well but can hardly understand spoken English. Those who have learned spoken English from a Russian teacher have great trouble with pronunciation and understanding various American accents.

Hi Barry,

I got to second on that.  Some girls can write in quite good and understandable English....they are very astute at studying books and in translating English in the written form.  But,  spoken...is a totally different matter and they are very aware of it.  Many Russians say they are fluent in spoken English and most are not.  I have only spoken with 1 who was truly fluent and she was an interperter for the Russian diplomats at the UN.
