When I was in Kiev, I went to an internet cafe and used my Yahoo messinger account to call US. It was 2 cents per minute and was very clear. It is the same as calling within the states.

http://www.communitelusa.com/english/home.htm

Communitel cards are .10 a minute to Ukraine and .05 to Moscow. I think other Russia is .09

They are the best cards I have found. Mucho better than Nobel.com

I used to send my fiancee cards from zvonok.com which she used to call me here in the USA.  Their rates are average for all are worried about paying too much:)
Good luck!

Ah! FSU technology.  USA to Ukraine and Russia is fine,  but Ukraine to USA is like $1.03 per minute on their rates.  And on a pre-paid card.  Kiev to Moscow is $1.06 per minute. And calling within Ukraine to Ukraine is a whopping $1.63 per minute.  I can only guess what regular rates can be.  I begin to see why a telephone there can be called a luxury.  I call Sweden and Ireland on MCI and its 9 cents a minute for Sweden and I think 7 cents for Ireland.  Thanks,  Tim
