New York city ticket consolidators can not be beat.  If you look at the Village Voice travel section they will list one consolidator after another, many with 800 numbers.  I recommend Panorama Travel with Katerina Krasnobaev 212-741-0033 especially if you are going to the Ukraine.

I put in the dates as 1/10 - 1/24, there are a couple of less expensive tickets, but I didn't feel it necessary to call the agent...  This sounds like a good deal to me, but I have never flown to Moscow, so you tell me.

The URL is airvalues.com, buy early, because I got quoted a price, came back a week later and had to pay more....

... in response to $767.35 round trip SAN to SVO...., posted by mdm on Nov 21, 2001

Be sure to check the connections:  I ran my Florida to Kiev test and was offered a return flight with an overnight stay in Amsterdam when the same trip can be made without an overnight stay by taking an earlier flight on the same carrier. I assume that the travelor would pay the cost of the hotel room.  The prices were that much better that it might be worth considering, but it is an extra cost that should be factored in.

Honestly.  It took only two minutes and was able to beat that fare and stay with a great combination of airlines.

Yes I own a travel agency, so believe me when I tell you that all the toys on the internet are fine, but using a travel agent is still the best bet!

When using an on-line company who will help in case of a problem?  Who do you call?  What if you made a mistake?  Who will help fix?  What if you want to change your return date?  Can the computer do it?  Will the airline do it?(Sometimes the airlines can't touch on-line reservations due to contractual agreements).

Guys....call me/e-mail me.

Call mdante/e-mail mdante

Call your local agent/e-mail your local agent

Just be careful when purchasing on-line.  You have no idea who/what you area dealing with.

I would love your business....that is a fact.  So would mdante.  Our industry has been devastated and every little bit helps.  Like I said, it took me two minutes to beat airvalues.com, what else can I beat?  Not everything, but I sure do try.

Never book directly with the airline.  Who will service you?

Still lurking,

Try www.qixo.com ( mega travel search comparison engine ), www.travelocity.com or www.hotwire.com -( they give you times and airline names after you purchase the ticket - not very convienient ). Compare all the prices.  Try www.tiss.com major worldwide consolidator with offices in the US . Try individual airlines web pages ( AA, Delta, US Airways, Continental) . Sometimes there are incredible deals to major hubs in Europe( Frankfurt, London , Zurich, Paris ). Combine US travel to major european hubs with flights to Kiev , Moscow or Peter ( again travelocity or qixo comes handy ). Now, for example West coast to Brussels $295 !!-US Airways , AA around $20 more. On the top of that you`ll get double miles till Dec. 15 th . When flying to Kiev don`t overlook Ukrainian Internatiomal Airlines( they have their own web pages ) . Now they have spacial winter sale $220 ( out of London, Frankfurt, Paris ,Brussels or Copenhagen ). They don`t take Visa or Mastercard . Last , but not least of major possibilities talk to you agent or local consolidator and compare all the prices .... No, I`m not an agent  . I`ve traveled a lot and that`s my exeprience   John

Does not make sense for someone to waste half a day on the internet trying to find a fare he will NEVER find.
No, you don't have to deal with me but find a travel agent who specializes in EE and there are many; he/she will give you a better deal than you can ever find on your own; and it would NOT be on Aeroflot, Rags is correct, I have been warning about that for sometime. Save your time in preparation for meeting with the lady/ladies and work with a specialized EE agent.

Dalton,

Did you get everything worked out with Alexei?  Did you find your apartment?  Which one did you select?  I am set and will be in St.Petersburg on the 19th.  I will be staying at the Nevskii Palace the first 4 nights and then getting the apartment.  I got a great rate there and I have always wanted to stay here.  So...what the frock!

I think, from past e-mails regarding the apartment, we might be in the same building.  However, we changed to the apartment that is two levels with a sauna.  Will need to try and hook up there.

Let me know

Hey Brian:

I have everything work out with Alexi. I am sending him the deposit for apartment # 025 this week.

Thanks for the contact and the help and I hope that we can meet up during our time there. I wish that I could stay for the coming of the new year, but I have taken so much time off with my trips that I can't extend it.

Give me an idea where and when we can connect in St. Pete and Yulia and I will be there. I have written to her and she would love to meet together.

The tickets between Portland-St. Petersburg RT cost between $800 to $900 depending upon the day of travel; and sometimes even less.

These are consolidators rate and NOT published rate; you will never find them on the internet.

Consolidators are wholesalers that buy block of seats and then sell them through specialized travel agents. Most travel agents do not usually work with them, unless the agent has a particular market where they do a lot of business.

Ken, if you are interested drop me a note, and I would have my wife send you a quote. You can also go to www.travelandtrips.com and punch in the destination and dates.
