This was reported this morning on the alt.visa.us.marriage-based newsgroup:

Just got a call from my fiancee - her interview is scheduled for Jan 8th. She was passing by the embassy about 15 min ago and said that people scheduled for K-1,2 visas interviews are being allowed into the embassy, meaning interviews are being conducted.

... in response to What is the URL for the Internet site?, posted by Peter Ryan on Oct 29, 2001

You won't have the messages downloaded to your PC- but, you'll still be able to view and post new messages. Just go to www.google.com and type (or copy from here) "alt.visa.us.marriage-based" into the search window. Plenty of links. It's a great resource if you need information. Some of those people have been frequenting that group for years and really know the ins and outs of the visa process...

Best wishes,

Peter,

This is a "newsgroup" which you can probably access through your email client. All Internet Service Providers give you access to the most popular so-called "newsgroups", but you have to configure your client to get them.

For example, I use Microsoft's "Outlook Express" for my email and news reader. My Internet Service Provider is Mindspring (Earthlink), so the server in my case is "news.mindspring.com".

If you are using Outlook Express, click "Tools" on the menu bar, then select "accounts", then select the "News" tab. Click on the "add" button on your right, and then select "news". You will be presented with a wizard that steps you through the setup process.

For "Display Name", choose the name you want any messages that you post to show you as. Click "next". Input your email address here, and click "next". The next screen asks for your news server. If you are unsure of what yours is, contact your ISP and ask them. Check the box "my news server requires me to log on" and you will be prompted on the next screen to enter your user name and password. This is generally the same as your email log on. (You can probably leave the check box "Log On Using Secure Password Authentication" unchecked. Then click "finished" on the next screen.

You will see the news server on the left side of the screen under your email accounts and folders. The first time you click on it, it will want to download the available newsgroups. there are thousands of these discussion groups, so be patient while it downloads them to your computer. When it is finished, type the name alt.visa.us.marriage-based in the box on top that says "display newsgroups which contain:". Then select it in the box below, and on the right hit the "subscribe" button. This will keep the newsgroup in your list. Then, click the "go to" button on the bottom and it will download the last 300 headers of the most recent posts. Just click on one to read it. If there is a plus sign before it, click it to access the replies to the post.

If you use another email client or news client, I'm sure the procedures will be similar enough to these so that you can use these instructions anyway.

Hope this helps!

John
