HELPFUL TRANSLATION TIPS

Further to our previous post.

Displaying Cyrillic alphabet using Windows 2000

To display Cyrillic alphabet from your Microsoft Outlook Express account you need to turn on the correct format encoding.

Go to menu item   and select the  option to display the available encoding options.  You should see about four different Cyrillic encoding options.

Cyrillic (ISO)
Cyrillic (KOI8-R)

Cyrillic (KOI8-U)
Cyrillic (Windows)

Select one of these options Cyrillic (Windows) being one of the most common in use with Windows 2000.  You should be able to see the Cyrillic alphabet.

If you do not have any Cyrillic options available you may need to check your Regional Options settings in your Control Panel.

Make sure the Cyrillic check box is ticked if not tick this box and Windows will install the Cyrillic character set.

To Translate Russian to English access one of the many Russian to English Internet translations sites.

Below are three sites that provide free machine translations such as
http://www.translate.ru/eng/erre.asp  (This site also translates Russian internet web pages).

Just cut and past the text to and from the internet translation web page.  If you are translating from English to Russian you should be able to cut and past the returned Cyrillic text into your Microsoft Exchange mail.  (Make sure you have RTF format switched on)
