In Reference to Speaking Spanish

The Language Barrier.

My take on American men speaking Spanish. I personally speak Spanish. I am not fluent but very close.

This is what I think not that anyone cares:

I would like to know guys if you are looking for a girl from another country wouldn't you want to be able to talk to her? I feel you should make some kind of effort to speak their language. I can tell you it is very helpful with putting her family members at ease knowing they can communicate with the person that is about to ship their loved one out of the country.

It is great to have a translater when you first meet because it is very helpful and you get more accomplished in learing about one another a lot quicker.

But in my opinion, you should make the effort to speak their language after all if she is making the effort to speak your language you should make that same commitment. I personally enjoy very much to be able to speak to people when I am there. It is a great sense of security as well as confidence.

I still learn more and more everyday and quite often talk to pen pals on MSN just to learn how to write it as well as use a hand held translator for words I am not sure about.

On another note I do know people that try to learn but there is no hope for them. I am not saying it is impossible. But harder for some than others.

Nobody ever said that one should not learn spanish.  The whole thing was blown out of proportion.  It was stated that is it imperative that the woman learn english if she is to live in an english speaking country and be able to get along on her own.  Somehow, it was twisted into only the woman need learn english and its not important that the man learn spanish.  It went downhill from there.  

For the record, men should learn spanish as much as possible and their LA ladies should learn english to live in an english speaking country.  Unless of course, you live in an area of the country where nobody speaks english at all and you never plan to move.  If thats the case, then by all means to hell with english for the lady if thats her and your choice.

One more time so the slow learners can understand.  Men should learn spanish.  Women should learn english.

However, if a guy wants to begin the search and doesnt speak spanish then he is not a bad person for doing so.  If you have nice looks, some game, and can speak just a drivel of spanish you can still meet gorgeous ladies.  And if you are like some of the guys on the board who go down for sex only, or like alot of one night stands, (I've had my share) then spanish is not only irrelevant, but totally unnecessary.  Charisma goes further than just about anything and if your hot and she's hot, who cares?  

But this is a board for those looking for spouses so no need to go there.

Well I can tell you Tommy,

 If you are one of those guys that just goes down there to get laid then that means you are probably unsucessful in doing so here.

 I will let you know that in visiting Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tokyo. The girls there hate American Men becuase
of the same reason. The American Military has given us guys a bad name to some extent because they go down there and get laid and get women pregnant and leave.

 So eventually that will probably happen in Barranquilla! I see traits in Cali and Bogota as we speak. Now the women are taking advantage of the men.

  I don't know you, but I have seen your combative responses. I am not here to tell anyone what to do, blow anything out of proportion, just give good advice thats all!!!
