Good to hear you are getting alot out of your travels. My wife and I went to Santa Marta.I'm sure there are better places to visit in that area. We enjoyed it there but we were on our honeymoon. For me it probably would not have mattered where we went since we didn't spend much time outside our room. :) :) ;)

I think it's natural to be a bit nervous walking in initially and meeting your lady's parents and/or family. After all, you really don't know exactly what to expect, although discusssing it as much as is practical with your novio beforehand can certainly help. I don't know if it's customary to bring a gift or anything else in such an event.

There's some great advice above in the posts, but I think that Colgando's already got the basic 'good manners' down, in that he'll show to them that he truly cares for and RESPECTS her and her family, makes eye contact, etc. I'll bet they'll be able to 'feel that he's real' that he dressed and conducted himself well for the occasion and that will make ALL the difference.

Thanks Robert! Yeah man, if I did not respect her as a woman, I would have scared her away already given the type of person she is. If I was not patient, I would not be with her right now. She was not affectionate with me until the 9th date which was the 2nd day of my 2nd trip. Once she allowed her heart to trust me, yes sir, I am a very happy man, it was worth the wait, she is the kind of woman that I want!  ;D

I like Santa Marta.  If I were spending a week in the area, I would stay the first night at the spa Benjio mentioned, 3 nights in el Rodadero (beach town next to Santa Marta), one night camping in Parque Tayrona, then 2 nights in Santa Marta.

Nice itinerary! That would be amazing to do that!

My wife, although from Soledad, had only been to Rodadero once or maybe twice I believe. And even then I think it was only for a day with the whole family. So to go for a week with just the two of us was an unbelievable experience for her. Especially being able to do things like the banana boat, wave runner, even the peddle boats! Then to be able to dance on the beach, sleep in a nice hotel room with her man with an ocean view, go dancing in Centro Historico de Santa Marta, eat nice food. Wow, she was a happy camper. I would love to stay there longer and go to Minca to see some eco tourism sites and Tayrona.

I really like the style of Cartagena better, but the prices are getting ridiculous there. My wife prefers Santa Marta by a wide margin.
