Thanks for that info kfc!

Yes, she did log into her Asia Miles account before purchasing the seats. I’ll remind her to check with the ticket agents to make sure her account is credited.

Rob,

I was told today, a few hours ago, that Cathay Pacific will be starting its All Asia pass program this May.

You may be able to get that RT to cebu for near your budget of $1800 using that.

I attached the flyer,

Zulu

Well you did catch the fact that it was last year's handbill. But you still over looked the additional $360.00 surcharge for Ft. Lauderdale and the $500.00 high season (summer) surcharge and the $100.00 if traveling on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. So now the $1599.00 price has become either $2459.00 or $2559.00....almost a thousand more than the teaser price.

Michael,

Yes, I posted that as an example, its NOT current!

Purchased my ticket from Cathay Pacific via telephone, traveling on Mondays, total ticket price $1543.00 RT to Philippines plus stopping in two additional Asian cities (Just like the All Asia Pass.)   I am purchasing my Gateway ticket separately for $325.00 to SFO.

Grand total= $1868.00

You can find discounts to SFO and LA and purchase those separate for sometimes as low as $199.00 RT.

I would call the airline to get the best rates.  The agent actually combined two specials to get my final fare. (Not sure if they do this very often)

Yes, but Robert specifically said that he wanted to go from Fort Laurderale and that he wanted to go in high season, I was just pointing out that both of those options have a surcharge. Glad you got a good price, hope Robert does too.

I've got you beat though on combining specials to get the lowest price, at least on one occasion....several years ago I took the first wife and our two kids to Las Vegas, using a combination of Fun Jet and MLT. One had cheap airfare, but not so good on the hotel prices, the other one was the other way around. So the (really good) travel agent I used told Fun Jet that we needed air only because we would be staying with friends and told MLT that we were driving out but would need a hotel when we got there.....booked both of them that way and it was only a little more than 1/2 the price of using strictly one company or the other.

Anyway, enjoy your trip, and I hope Robert gets a good price (and has fun) on his trip too.

Michael,

Thanks!

I think peak and weekend travelers, like Rob, may be screwed on price, but he may have those bonus miles built up to get some upgrades or a companion ticket out of the deal.
