I have some experience with a couple of the internet dating sites. A few words of advice.
Set an age target and stick to it. Personally I'm 53 and my target is 15 years younger to 5 years older. The minute you get on one of these sites your mail box will fill up with knee crawling beautiful 18 to 22 year olds. My experience is that if they're interested in someone more than twice their age they are probably a scammer. Only probably, but be on your guard.
I've just recently begun talking to a Filipina woman that seriously has my attention. She works everyday, 7 days a week. To talk to me she walks 10 blocks, rain or shine, and sits in an internet cafe with "smelly teenagers" playing video games. She absolutely will not allow me to send her a dime to help pay for the internet costs. I have her address, a telephone number for her sister, and her home address. If you can't get this kind of personal info then shes probably a scam.
I've only been talking to this woman for three weeks and we've started talking about me making a visit there to meet her and her family. With that in mind, I've begun learning some basic greetings in Tagalog. When I typed them to her the first time in chat she was amazed that I took the time to learn some of her language. I've also been doing huge amounts of reading about her history and the Philippine culture. To me, this woman is devastatingly beautiful and any thing I can do to further the relationship will be worth it. Because I'm seriously considering visiting her, I found this very site today.
Be on your guard is the best advice I can give to you. If it smells like rotting fish, then it probably is.

Hi Bill,
It sounds like you are doing everything right so far.
If you are looking for more ways to further the relationship, try writing some snail-mail letters to her home address and use that phone number to give her a surprise call. When they give you a phone number, they want you to call! Did she give you her cell phone number?
