China Airlines
« on: April 09, 2010, 11:40:21 PM »
Anyone flown China Airlines? I'm looking at airfare in May to Cebu. I can go San Fran-Tapei-Manila for $793.70. Then pick up Cebu Pacific into Cebu for 3713 PHP($80). Thats total with taxes. I can stay another couple days now!!

I'm not looking for alot in an Airline. Mainly one that takes off and lans each flight safely. The rest is just peanuts.

Yes. I've flown them. It's been a while but they used to have great service and I got there and back. Any of the Asian airlines are far more pleasant to fly than the American ones - better food, service, ambiance, and less fat people sitting next to you.

I too have never flown China Airlines.
That is a good price for SFO to MNL.
CA was one of the airlines I search for a cheap fare for but they do not fly NYC to Manila on the days I want to travel & they my "alternated travel days" fares was more expensive that Cathay.

I did a search & saw all the promo fares for Cebu Pacific are sold out (or selling out quick).  The price you are paying now for MNL to Cebu is what I paid for both me & Ahya. I knew that these promo prices wouldn't last.

I booked China Airways from Taipei, Taiwan to Chang Mai, Thailand last year. They bumped my booking to Thai Airways and gave me another layover in Bangkok, but that's an airline review for another day.  ::) I've found that you have to watch out for the "operated by" disclaimer on the ticket. I haven't been on a plane in nearly a year now, but definitely not complaining.

I liked my flights on Korean air good service. I agree about fat people on flights trying to pretend they fit in one seat. I am one of the fatties but i have the courtesy to buy 2 seats and make myself and fellow passengers comfortable.

Well, I'm booked for Cebu May 10-24. I peiced my trip together. It was a bit more difficult but saved me about $400 easily. Total price from BFE, er Kansas was $1137.49.
I fly AA From Kansas City-DFW-San Fran, pick up China Airways thru Taipe and arrive in Manilla at 0935. Then I catch Cebu Pacific to Cebu arriving at 130pm.I could have taken the earlier flight but I wanted a time buffer just in case.

Going back is a bit of a bitch from San Fran to Kansas City. I get in San at 720pm but nothing heads to Kansas city that late so I catch a 1130pm to Chicago then Kansas City arriving at 0830am. 2 hour drive home. Travel time will give me about 6 hours in San Fran prior to take off. I feel an Ambien or two during the flight so I'm rested in Cebu. Lord knows my girl is excited. She knows May i'm planning but not the details. I'm about to give her a text now so when she wakes she can smile. She keeps telling me that she "can't find her excitement". I always ask her where did she leave it at?

I think I'll take the advice and book hotels/resort when we get there. Worst case we can sleep in her hostel but not preferred.Maybe a night at the diplomat she can get set up.
I tell you that after the flight details were set, I got really nervous to press the "buy" button. I know I'm doing the right thing and she seems to be a great girl but damn I got a little nervous but I did it.
Now time for the details.

Sounds like a good price, Crash. It's real hard to tell these days, but with the economy 'supposedly' picking up and the stock market hitting a recent high point, that''ll probably give them enough reason to raise the price on fuel and likewise, airfares.

It's great you got a couple weeks instead of ten days. Going that far, every extra day is worth a lot. I am sure you'll have a great time. Cebu, Bohol, Davao, Camiguin and  Palawan are some of the very nicest places to go, a lot of people feel.

Ambien and over the counter melatonin on the flight over and coming back, can help you 'flip flop' your sleeping patterns, although with your working nights, you might just be 'good to go' as you are.

Get ready to 'go around the world'!!

well the question that i have is what happens when the money given to all of these companys to prop them up runs out ? another big drop in the market ? I guess time will tell.
don't get me wrong i hope it doesn't happen , but i have a bad bad feeling that the other shoe is going to drop & then we are going to be in some real trouble.

That price was a few hundred less than any others. I just didn't see it going lower. Piecing together a trip this far requires some effort and coordination when using multiple airlines. I expect to have a great time with different experiences. As far as sleep, nights has me pretty screwy sleep wise. I wonder if China Airlines have the seating closer than american airlines as far as legroom?
