So, after things went south with the Chinese girl I was seeing I spent a bit working, saving money...I've got some extra expenses lately (had to buy a new car, saving up for a boat) so thought I might check out some local women who didn't cost $2-3k to go see. Used the plenty of fish site and damn. All the local girls are obese, completely uneducated, or have kids. The only passable one I found was a girl who was maybe a 4 or 5 and doing her pre-reqs at community college at age 23. I don't know whether it's because the local population just sucks (distinct possibility) or no girls use dating sites, but damn. Had one girl from the Seattle area message me a few times so far but the e-mails are about 10 words each.

For kicks, looked up Chinese girls and there were scads of educated, decent looking girls with decent jobs. Obviously a larger population pool to draw on. A few saw that I viewed them and sent me lengthy messages or added me as a favorite. What a difference in selection and attitude...guess I better save up for some plane tickets...

I remember going through this phase and clearly the superior options in the looks dept. are overseas.  It is not even close, but you never know, so no real harm in keeping your options open locally.  If I remember right you are from one of the rural landlocked states and in the time I spent in those states I was amazed at how generally unattractive the ladies were compared with states along the coasts.  I guess a percentage of the ladies flee these states for what they see as greener pastures.   

Start saving for the plane ticket, it is highly likely you will use it!

I think it's just that a single, marginally attractive (not obese) girl with no children has absolutely no problem finding a relationship so they don't feel any need to take the effort to go online and actively look for someone. They probably get asked out a few times a week and there seems to be a feeling here amongst women that online dating sites are unfashionable/taboo/make them look desperate. So, the women you see online are the ones who have difficulty finding a relationship: obese, single parents, and weirdos. Also girls who are on the rebound and want a quick date to show their ex that they have no problems finding a date. That's just been my experience.

I'm not the type of guy who goes around hitting on everything that moves until something sticks, which seems to be the only method that really works here, so that basically sucks.

Yep, online is one huge waste of time. Plus any decent girl gets pounded with PMs and emails. I agree with what that VH1 pickup guy says. Scanning profiles, looking at very flattering pics, trading emails and IMs for days/weeks... its just a huge waste of time. If you met her out and about you could size her up in 30 seconds. If you are looking locally just go out.

Most guys flock to hole in the wall bars and attractive women are at dance clubs or even a karaoke bar. If you are striking out at a hole in the wall bar.. that is not surprising. Pick up a mic... sing Imagine by Lennon... and you'll have plenty of girls at your table. Trust me.

I can tell you in the midwest we have a lot of fat chicks. Occasionally a girl who is a little overweight and very moderate looking does have the confidence to sit down next to me and chat me up. I don't run every day and hoop it up to score with that. But she thinks I'm interested. Yep... time to book a flight.
