Last night in the USA for a while. My son and I leave for China tomorrow. First Beijing, then south to Guangzhou where we spend the night. Then a one hour flight the next morning to Zhanjiang. We have spent the last couple of nights in Seattle with my oldest son and his family. It's cold and windy here and we had snow on Sunday. I love the fact that I will soon be in 70-80 degree weather in a couple of days getting some big love.
Moving out of country can be a huge pain-goodbyes, homes for pets, insurance, visas, PO box, banking, utilities, storage, getting rid of all the crap you thought you needed and boiling everything down to two suitcases, a laptop and a guitar.
When I married a year ago I wouldn't have guessed that this would be the way it would go, but sometimes events have a way of changing and if you can be flexible anything is possible.
Things I will miss:
My band, the killer taco wagon down the street, cheese, pizza, IPA, English, fast internet, NFL playoffs, my friends, family, dog, cat, and the great Pacific Northwest's outdoors.
Things I won't miss:
Fat people, especially the ones using the handicapped carts at Wal Mart. The Today Show, Flomax commercials, automated answering systems, light beer, spoiled whiners, Harry Reid, Sarah Palin, Rob Blaggo, Regis Philbin, American Idol, Matt Millen (they've put him on NBC Sunday nite football!), cold weather, New Age People, TV news, pharmaceutical commercials, and bitchy entitled American women.
Things I look forward to:
Good lovin. Great food, including fish heads, sea worms, pigeon, duck, squid, sea cucumber, papaya, pineapple, dragon fruit, and lots of stuff I don't know the name of. Walking, foot massages, pirated movies, friendly business environment, good public transportation, cheap taxis, cheap standard of living, warm weather, warm ocean, and affordable everything.
More when I get settled in.
