Hey Mattman,

Looks like you are having a great time, and surely the little lady is happy, her smiles are picture perfect.

Enjoyed reading the TR and thanks for sharing the many photos.

You have a nice wholesome, traditional lady, that has respect for her parents trust in her, lives by the morals and values she aquired thru her upbringing....all said, you have stumbled into a good family it appears.

It must really make you feel good to know you have found a jewel!!!

Continue to enjoy the trip!!!

Jeff S,

That is a crazy traffic scene, talk about organized chaos. Amazing how it just keeps flowing without the aide of signals. Since it not a traffic circle, can we refer to it as 1/4 right turn and 3/4 suicide. That even makes Italy look safe.

Hey Leatherneck,

I was very impressed with the 'organized chaos'...until I a few minutes ago.
I now go with your "1/4 right turn and 3/4 suicide" description! A few mintues ago
I saw a picture of an Indian guy that crashed his motorcycle into a truck. He was laying in the road, split completely in half with his intestines spread out. It was a bit too graphic to post on P-L! Good thing I am used to it, because I was eating dinner.

Hey everyone,

I'm reporting from back in the USA today. I was sad to leave China and the wonderful woman who has become my everything. I spent my last night in China having dinner and an extended curfew from Mom. We took the time to have a late dinner and a nice evening.

My hotel room overlooks the Songhua river with a great view of the river, bridges etc.

Amazing view and something right out of the movies. We stood at the window and looked at the view together. It was picture perfect and a memorable moment. We expressed our feelings and how much we would miss each other until I return. Just then the water fountain show started across the river with sappy chinese pop music. I thought I was OK and played on the moment. Then the fireworks show started and I'm thinking to myself "gimme a freakin break here!" I'm trying not to be sappy but we have a river, bridges, fountains, fireworks and a beautiful woman. I'm not a big romantic, but this was as good as it gets.

Below are a few of my favorite pics from my trip

Xiaochun on a boat ride:

Finally, just us being happy:
[img=http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/2060/cimg0019ux6.th.jpg][img=http://img357.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif]

I owe a great deal of thanks to all the board contributors for helping make this happen. I would not be so happy if it weren't for all of you who have gone the extra mile to give me advice. This has been an amazing experience, and I llook forward to my next trip in the spring to get married to this wonderful woman.

Take care everyone and peace out!!!
Matt

Matt,
I feel your joy!  The hard part is the wait between visits.  You get used to the Skype schedule:  6am to say good night, 5pm to say good morning, and 9pm to say hi during lunch.
Again, congratulations.

Yes - Congrats Matt. Glad things worked out well for you so far. It's an amazing ride isn't it. Your friends and family will probably call you nuts, but you'll know what's up. Looking back on my experience I'm always reminded of the Robert Frost poem:

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Sorry I couldn't post before, but I was gone out of cell phone range, much less internet range. Great to hear the reports and thanks for sharing your experiences and pictures!

Thanks for all the support guys and gals. I have met a truly wonderful woman with good values and a traditional nature. She has simple views on life that are very refreshing. My hectic biz life can be very frustrating, and she slows me down to enjoy the little things.  The simple fact that she encourages me to work hard for the first half of the day and then pesters me to stop for the second half is very endearing. The hard part is still coming as I await my next trip and prepare Visa paperwork.

Thankfully, my family does not think I am nuts. They see her values as a positive thing and remember what it was like here in the USA 50 years ago. They look at the pictures and videos of my trip and see the the values that she wants. It's not unlike the American dream. Good life with a pretty wife. That's what we all want right??????

Now I have the chance to live the dream. There are many obstacles from  here, but we will overcome them.

By the way does anybody have any experience with QQ. This is the biggest IM client in China. I am using it, but drives me nuts because it is hard to use here in the USA.

any help is welcomed, but we are getting along great with what we have,

take care,

Matt

I used QQ a bit and might be able to help if it's something fairly simple. I assume you're using the English version? Send me a PM if you don't want to post the problem and I'll see if I can help.

Ray: just out camping and hiking. Attached a pic...some beautiful areas (that's from the North Cascades). I'm not of a photographer but the scenery makes up a bit for my lack of skill.

Whaoh.  Gorgeous!  Near the Pacific Crest trail?  Now is about the time when all the thru-hikers are finishing up near Canada.

Hey jm21-2,

Nice pic, there are many nice places in the US, but the west coast and particularly the pacific north west is where you will find some exceptional scenery.
