He was stopped for a reason!  Do you remember what he has "achieved" when he was not being stopped?

That means he can't be judged for being stopped by the Democrat (socialist).  And what he achieved was to keep this country running through some pretty major events including war, and major price increases on oil.  The socialist would have just raised taxes and made everyone drive less while allowing enemies who'd kill us have a say in our government.  Remember to cut back and conserve means "LOSE JOBS".

I do not like BUSH because he got more socialist programs passed that Clinton.  In my opinion he was the greatest Democrat president they didn't elect.  Socialism has failed around the world - it won't work here either.

Bush was a Democrat and Socialist?  I suggest you start marketing whatever it was you were smoking, because it must be really potent  ;D.

Bush launched a war in Iraq that was neither provoked, nor did any good to the country.  Aside from the deaths of thousands of Americans, it is bankrupting the economy.  Your boy lowered taxes while waging the war and spending billions on construction in Iraq, and that led to record, astronomic deficits.  Do you realize that this is demolishing the value of the $, and makes further borrowing even more expensive, makes a future default a probability, and makes any imports that much more expensive. A third of the oil price increase is simply due to devaluation of the currency vis-a-vis world currencies as a result of a war and deficit spending?

Has Al-Qaida been defeated?  No!  Not only its two principals are still at large, US has emphatically fulfilled its demands, and removed its troops from Saudi Arabia.  And they still have not gone away because the moral leadership of US has been severely damaged by the invasion and occupation of Iraq, and because of lack of resources that are diverted to Iraq.  If GOP were to win again, they will launch wars into even more countries as the old turd is promising.  Where are they going to get the resources?  I know!  They will slash millionaires' taxes!  This is the magic trick that works for them every time!

The issue I have with Dems is their stance on social issues that I disagree with.  But I would rather have a competent and patriotic administration of Obama leading foreign and domestic policy at the expense of placating Leftist social activists.

And I guess it takes a Bush presidency to make an Obama presidency possible.  There is a good in (almost) every bad.

He wage a war against someone who declared war on us and tolerated and accepted terrorist within their borders.  BTW where are the WMD?  No one ever found them but even the Iraqis admit they had them.  As for cutting taxes that was exactly what kept the economy going because to raise taxes is to cut spending by the people which cut jobs which makes thing worse. Whats destroying the value of the dollar is the unchecked spending of the government not its people and the last I saw that was a Democrat-Socialist controlled congress not the president who can't spend a penny they don't give him!

He wage a war against someone who declared war on us

No, he did not.  US intervened in a local squabble between Iraq and Kuwait, declared war on Iraq, defeated it, and kept it under siege since.  Doing that had good reasons, and I am not arguing at all against Gulf War I, but it was US that declared war on Iraq, not the other way around.

 and tolerated and accepted terrorist within their borders.

No, he didn't, particularly regarding Al-Qaida.

BTW where are the WMD?  No one ever found them

I could not have said this more succinctly!

but even the Iraqis admit they had them.

and nobody is contesting that.  But Iraq then destroyed them following demand by UN which was confirmed by inspectors independent of Bush & Co.  But it didn't really matter since they needed an excuse to invade and occupy Iraq.

because to raise taxes is to cut spending by the people which cut jobs which makes thing worse.

No.  For people in the lower brackets whose income = their disposable income, yes.  For wealthy people it means they will have less money to save.  One may argue about negatives of that, but it does not automatically and simplisticly reduce spending.  Mr. Obama proposes rolling back tax decrease for the top 5% wealthiest taxpayers and a tax decrease for the remaining 95%.  This will increase disposable income and therefore, spending.

Whats destroying the value of the dollar is the unchecked spending

TRUE!  So, I assume you are joining the Democrats in Congress in support of rolling back the Bush tax cuts and withdrawing troops from Iraq in order to cut billions upon billions of wasteful spending and balance the budget!

not the president who can't spend a penny they don't give him!

except that he threatens to veto any legislation that does not authorize continuing funding of billions of $ in military spending in Iraq, and the tax cuts for the wealthy were passed by the GOP congress as well, and the old turd - who was against them initially (!) now supports them (or at least he did very vocally during the primary).

I haven't seen any, have you?  If they are defeated they sure are scared enough to hide.

And have you seen any Al-Qaida in US before 2001?  I haven't.  And if you think they are not defeated, you must be smoking something exceptionally potent.

You are a waste of time.  It really doesn't matter what the facts are or what history has proven and I'm not a capable debater to prove it.  But I'm not stupid and I don't justify myself with stupid arguments like one man controlling our country by threatening congress with vetoes, they could easily override a veto with good justification.

I'm not sure but I missed the president going into congress demanding they add all that pork spending, even after he publically refused to sign bills unless they cut it.  And how is raising taxes and letting congress spend my money better than cutting taxes and letting me spend it?

Funny how you pick out one part of what I say and make a statement from that to prove yours, ignoring the rest of what I said?  "I call that text out of context which is pretext."

There is another quote "a person who argues with a fool is a fool".  So I end my discussion to avoid the being accused of being like you.

What a bunch of commie propaganda!

Lib-speak: “rolling back tax decrease” = TAX INCREASE

Why can’t you lefties just be honest and say you can’t wait to RAISE TAXES?

And when you hear the lefties spew this nonsense about raising taxes for ‘the wealthiest Americans”, and cutting taxes for the rest (even those who don’t pay taxes), it’s just another socialist plot to redistribute the wealth. Next time you hear those Democrat politicians (Mr. Obama) complaining about “the wealthiest Americans”, ask them what their income is? Stinking hypocrites!

The American dream is not to steal from the rich. The American dream is about creating your own wealth to enjoy and spend as you see fit. There is no law in this country against getting rich (well, not yet anyway)…

Are you slow?  Obama will decrease taxes for 95% of the taxpayers.  And you think that the old turd will not increase taxes?  How do you think he will be paying for his impending 100 year war that he is so excited about?

I'm not a capable debater

I am sincerely impressed with your sincerity and humility.

But I'm not stupid and I don't justify myself with stupid arguments like one man controlling our country by threatening congress with vetoes, they could easily override a veto with good justification.

No, they can't.  This is a political issue and Dems don't have enough majority (YET) to overide the veto, particularly in the Senate.

And how is raising taxes and letting congress spend my money better than cutting taxes and letting me spend it?

Because your beloved Bush started a very useless and a very expensive war.  It costs a lot of money.  Wars are not free.  If you want lower taxes, demand stop of the war.  This will immediately decrease spending by a very large margin.

Funny how you pick out one part of what I say and make a statement from that to prove yours, ignoring the rest of what I said?  "I call that text out of context which is pretext."

No, I quote the pertinent portions.  Your entire post is below, and I am not hiding it from anyone.  I do respond virtually to your every word, though.

GOP has since ruined the economy, launched a wasteful war (while cutting taxes at the same time despite record deficits!), increased the debt to truly astronomic size,
Quote
destabilized markets from electricity to housing
, demolished the currency to a point that without help from Arabs

Where in the world did you get this bunch of bull-hockey??? Care to explain how this happened? Exactly what markets are destablized? And please do not embarrass yourself by blaming the current housing situation on the GOP.

Oh, I get it, if it is not regulated to "death or to the point of damn near being on life support." then you libs/socialist call it destabilized.

Quote
Your boy lowered taxes while waging the war and spending billions on construction in Iraq, and that led to record, astronomic deficits.

And why is it the ONLY time those on the left care about spending and deficits, is when they are not the ones controlling the purse strings, or if the billions being wasted is not for one of their favorite social programs...ie, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Insecurity, and the grand daddy of them all....Medicare Prescription Drug Benefits. Before you get excited, I know GW was the chief kahuna behind this fiasco, but remember, he had the libs hot on his tail to do something for the elderly or they would craft a behemonth of their own, they probably never imagined he would out spend them like that.

So stop it about wasted billions and deficits...cause I guarantee, should NObama get to the big house, you my friend, will not come close to using "waste, billions and deficits in the same breath.

Besides, what on earth do you think all of this socialized health care for every Tom, Dick, Harrry, Hector and Maria will cost? But of course, that is the kind of deficit spending you on the left love!!!!!

The commie and socilist leaders are always mega rich! They just wear silly drab clothing to look poor.

Castro's True Wealth
Humberto Fontova
Thursday, May 18, 2006

"When Forbes magazine named him among the world's richest heads of state in 2005, a furious Fidel Castro denounced it as "infamy!" "Do they think I'm some kind of Mobutu?" he raged. At the time, Forbes estimated his fortune at $550 million.

This year Forbes raised his ranking to the world's seventh-richest head of state, with an estimated fortune of $900 million. "Repugnant slander!" Castro thundered on Cuban television (all 12 of them) this week. The "president" of Cuba's National Bank, Francisco Soberon, also chimed in:

"The Cuban revolution and its Maximum Leader are an example of honesty and ethical conduct in this chaotic and corrupt world into which the empire has cast humanity."

Actually, Castro has a point. He has no business being lumped in with measly millionaire chumps like Mobutu Sese Seko and Queen Elizabeth."

I wonder if his shoes are 'Aire Castros'?

"Fidel, the plane...the plane! I want a new Russian airplane too!"

Give me 'Mao' money!

Ho Ho Ho...look kids it's Santa Clause...where are all of the presents?

Maybe they should make 'bird's nest soup' out of his hair, so they don't starve to death!

Commrade come home from Amerika...life is great here!

"Screw the photo opp! When can I get off the 'stupid peoples' bicycle'...errrr, I mean the 'peoples' stupid bicycle' and get back in the 'peoples' limo'? This is one "Change" , we should wait until after the election to reveal! They're not going to like this during the Chicago winters! You won't see Oprah riding the 'peoples' bike'! Hey you Secret Service guys running behind me, stay out of the pictures and don't let go of that tandem attachment or I will fall over!" "Listen up people...Just say no to drilling!...No new oil!...Free everything, with no new taxes!"

You're absolutely right Dave:

George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.

A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000 +
5) American's were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations o'seas, living large!...

But American's wanted 'CHANGE'! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress & yep--we got 'CHANGE' all right!.....

1) Consumer confidence has plummeted;
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION DOLLARS & prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low 11,300--

$2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS!

YEP, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE!...AND WE SURE AS HELL GOT IT!!!....
KEEP IN MIND THAT ONLY CONGRESS AND NOT THE PRESIDENT, CAN APPROPRIATE OR SPEND MONEY, AND ASK YOURSELF WHO HAS BEEN IN CONTROL OF CONGRESS SINCE 2006???

NOW 'BO', the DEM'S CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT--AND THE POLLS SAY HE'S GONNA BE 'THE MAN'--CLAIMS HE'S GONNA REALLY GIVE US CHANGE!!....REST ASSURED THAT THE ONLY CHANGE HE WILL GIVE US IS WHAT'S LEFT IN OUR POCKETS AT THE END OF HIS FOUR YEAR TERM, IF THE PRES., HOUSE, SENATE ARE ALL DEMOCRATS.

JUST HOW MUCH MORE 'CHANGE' DO YA THINK YOU CAN STAND

Bush launched a war in Iraq that was neither provoked, nor did any good to the country.  Aside from the deaths of thousands of Americans, it is bankrupting the economy.
Easy to toss out hyperbole when you don't have annoying facts to deal with.  Bankrupting?  Not quite.  The cost of the Iraq war is about $100 billion per year.  But the annual federal budget deficit is about $550 billion per year.  Even if we cut all spending in Iraq, we'd still have a budget-busting $450 billion per year deficit.  Do you think that doesn't have a negative impact on the overall economy, but the extra $100 billion does?

Quote from: Bear
BTW where are the WMD?  No one ever found them but even the Iraqis admit they had them.
They found some, just not as much as expected.  Inspectors discovered a stash that should have been destroyed per cease-fire agreement after the first Gulf War but was not. (I'm shocked! Simply shocked!)

Quote from: el_ruso
How do you think he will be paying for his impending 100 year war that he is so excited about?
100-year war?  Ah, yes!  Like that 67-year war we got going against Germany and Japan right now, like that 58-year war we got raging in Korea right now.  :P

El Russo;
I completely agree with all that you've said on the election debate that  you guys are having.  People keep equating any social movement as resorting to communism and that is ridiculous.  America is too much of a capitalistic society for that to happen.  That would be like trying to re-institute slavery (it just won't happen buddy, cause I'll go down fighting).
Medicare and social security is a social program that is paid for by our taxes, but I bet that all the republican old farts will draw from their benefits.
McCain over the last few years has voted at least 3 times against Arizona observing Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, yet had the nerve to show up at the NAACP months ago to say "I was wrong".  The only reason Arizona began observing Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is because the NFL said that they would play in a superbowl here if Arizona didn't respect it.
McCain made a desperate move by naming Palin as his VP choice, and everyone knows it.  If Obama had chosen Hilary, I bet you that McCain wouldn't have chosen Palin.  He did it to get Hilary votes.  The dinosaur should retire gracefully or continue being a Senator.
America needs to evolve, and so should some of these hypocritic, morally superior conservatives.

Obama was brave for subjecting himself to the mob of conservative, republicans, evangelicals at Saddleback.  No answer that he could have given would have satisfied his critics about the abortion debate or when life begins.  He was correct in saying that it isn't his place to say when life begins because no two people will ever agree 100%.  If you are driven by religion, you are pretty much set in your ways.  Let's reach a compromise and say intead; hey, I don't know if life begins when the sperm hits the egg or when when the baby is born, so how about no abortion beyond the 1st. trimester; but if you're a conservative republican, there is no such thing as a compromise.  They couldn't even give him praise when he gave that touching speech last week.   I bet if it were Obama's 17yr. old dtr. whom was pregnant, the conservatives would be having an uproar on the morality of the matter.  But when it's their canditate they say "the family should be commended for keeping the baby".  That's bull[snip]! Teenage mothers have babys daily, that's why they are called teenage mothers.  They deserve no commendations, they're the ones who spread their legs and spit out a kid that they can't support without their parents.
Be open-minded guys!

In my previous post; I meant to say that the many NFL players said that they would not play in a superbowl here, if Arizona didn't respect Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.  The man won the nobel peace prize and was a great champion for justice for all human beings. He deserves a holiday so that I can calm my rage against the man!

I the platform of McCain/Palin much more than Obama/Biden. I want less giveaways (on my nickel).  I want more individual accountability and smaller government.  That is not want we can expect from the Dems, but it is from the Repubs.  I trust that McCain will make the better decisions.

In regards to MLK day, eventually McCain came around and suppported the holiday, and went against the then governer of the state of Arizona who still opposed the holiday.  Keep in mind that McCain was a prisoner of war for a long time for a war he believed in, while MLK was profoundly whipping people up against that war. I think they were both  (MLK & McCain) wrong on that issue
but I think they both have done much more good then bad.

Hey Ramgoat,

I personally don't see this as a racial issue. I think most conservatives and liberals like John McCain, want to know why the Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is the only individual who has his own holiday? Not Washington, Lincoln, who was also assassinated, or John F. Kennedy another President who was assassinated. Many conservatives contend that the entire civil rights movement rather than one individual, however instrumental, should be honored. It sounds like typical Democratic appeasement to me! By the way, Dr King was a Republican and the bill was signed into law by Ronald Reagan.

Trust me, "The man" is not afraid of your rage (or mine), I think he is used to it...but he might be shocked if you show appreciation for all advantages you have for living in this fine country! Have you ever been to Africa or any other third world countries...the obvious answer is NO!

Heck, Albert Gore even got a Nobel Peace Prize for his 'Global Warming' scam.  ;D

Hey Fathertime,

Obama is known for his talk, but for not really doing anything! I think that many liberals will be shocked if he is elected and will soon come to realize that Bill Clinton (Hillary would have too) handed out FAR more 'giveaways!'
