Greetings, everyone, from a long time lurker--well, for the past 9 months or so--now a first time poster.
I'm a 41 year old gringo who speaks decent spanish and is interested in exploring the idea of meeting a latin woman for a potential wife. And after perusing the archives and trip reports over the past several months, I've decided to go with the $1475 personal introduction package through Latin-Wife in Barranquilla. Cartagena looks like a much more charming city, but the agencies there don't appear to be of the same caliber. Alas.
So far I've found Jamie's service to be very prompt and complete. He does not appear to be a schmoozer--just a straightforward guy like you'd meet on the east coast of the US--all business and no bull.
Upon signing up, I was sent a very thorough email on what to expect in terms of service and accommodations, as well as a very comprehensive list of questions to bring to introductions. Using the advanced search function on the site, I then browsed through the list of available women that had updated their profile in the past week and sent him about a dozen that I was interested in.
Apparently that was not enough, so he prompted me for more. I then took out the "last updated" field and found another 30 or so that I found attractive and sent that list in. (Of note, I'd say all had been updated within the past month.) Since then, I've noticed that several of the women from the second search have updated their profiles, which I suppose suggests that they are actually engaged in the process on the other end.
I'll be leaving for Colombia in about 3-4 weeks and hope that I have some time--but not too much time--to post a trip report or two. If anyone has recommendations on places to check out or to avoid in Barranquilla and nearby, I'd appreciate any tips on where to find interesting architecture, cultural sites, and local cuisine. Good day trips would be nice as well. Let me just say that I'd prefer to explore the local culture and am not really looking for the best place to find pizza or chinese food, if that makes sense.
Thanks in advance,
Purogringo
