Soccer riot in Cali
« on: March 10, 2008, 09:34:34 PM »
80 or more were injured, some with life threatening injuries at the  Deportivo Cali vs. America de Cali game Saturday. One can only imagine if Manchester United and their fans came to town.

I have tried to watch a couple of soccer games -- I think I would riot too, just to end the boredom.  Seriously, soccer can be fun to play, but it's like watching paint dry.  I still don't understand how the rest of the world gets so excited about this sport.

It seems that the coaches may not have sparked the riot.

"The incredible reason for Colombian brawl"

"A jealous boyfriend angry that his girlfriend was flirting with another man may have been the cause of a riot at a soccer game that injured 83 people - including six police."

Hey xcited,

Ain't that the truth!!! I am surrounded by soccer nutz. One of my neighbors is a famous retired soccer goalie from Argentina. He owns a soccer store here. My 2 sons are friends with his 2 sons. Nothing like taking my sons to "soccer birthday parties" when they were younger!

Dave,
The worst is around World Cup time, especially if you have to work with other companies or departments that are in Europe and South America.  Those countries basically shut down for the whole time.  Those who aren't "off" during the tournament are completely useless.  I had family visiting Italy during one of the previous World Cups and they could barely get a waiter at a resteraunt to take their order.  And this goes on every day for the whole month even if their team isn't playing that day.  They say Abu Grabe was torture -- make people watch a full month of soccer.  Heck, I'd confess to anything at that point.   :)

Hey xcited,

Just bounce that spotted ball a few times on the feet and head wearing a silly looking outfit with knee high socks and I'm talking!  :o
