What's Up With This?
« on: April 23, 2014, 11:19:27 PM »
Hey guys!

I'm finally in a position where I MIGHT be able to take off work (keyword being might lol) long enough to make a trek to the Philippines.

My goal right now is to start talking to a few girls and get to know them a bit. Then meet them and see if I click with any of them in person.

Previously on this forum, I was given some advice about identifying exactly what I want in a girl. I've done that. I'm looking for a wife, not just someone fun, so I'm being super selective in my search criteria.

Anyway, I happened upon this one dating site, FilipinoCupid. I was surprised, to say the least, that many of the women on there sounded a bit cocky and had height and age requirements.

Has anybody experienced this before? The women on Cherry Blossoms seem sweet, while this site seems to consist of mostly Americanized women....

Why are you surprised that the ladies have standards? You just said that you do, why can't they? For the ones who's standards you are either unable or unwilling to meet, just don't contact them. That should be simple enough.

Filipinas have the reputation of being very sweet. I just didn't expect to see that. Might as well be using a dating site here in the US then, yeah?

Some of these "very sweet" girls are cam girls, unfortunately.

They are short. Their height requirements shouldn't be that challenging to meet I would think. Is being 5'6 or 5'8 tall enough? I do know in the States women have issues with height. There are these 5'2 women that put together online profiles that say their date has to be 6'0 or taller. Being a guy that would meet that requirement there is no way I'd date a girl with that crap in her profile. Nor would she date me if I listed that my date must have double Ds.
Retiring in Tela, Honduras is 14,600 days (haha)

I'm seeing 5'10+.

I'm also seeing girls that are average looking at best saying that they are "very attractive" and tag lines that say "you only live once". Also, girls with tattoos.

I'm traveling to the other side of the world to avoid women like this. Very disheartening.

1st off the guy who shows up gets the girl

even if he is short

in the Philippines some girls do have tattoos, some of these are bar girls or former bar girls

some of them are not bar girls at all but, still for whatever reason got a tattoo

a tattoo for me makes the lady a non starter rite from the get-go

i myself like a good province girl

many of them can be found in places like Manila & Cebu

they go to the city to attend college & for employment

i live out in the country so i figured i would find a lady that was used to such place

if i had of married a lady born & raised in Manila

i'm no so sure that she wouldn't have been scared of things like bear, moose , & deer that we have

around here. I know some city girls would even be worried about things like coons & woodchucks

i kid you not.

i found my wife on filipinacupid (called filipinaheart at the time)

not to say that D.I.A. doesn't have some good wife material

i'm sure there are some

but i think that is more of a "hook-up" type of site

good if you want to go over there & play "peter rabbit"

jumping from one rabbit hole to the next

i wasn't looking for that so i never messed with DIA

as i have said on another thread

good girls "wife material"  want you to make the 1st move

if a lady contacts you 1st WATCH OUT! things are off to a bad start

she will ask you to go over to YM

next comes the "oh i don't know what i'm going to do"

i have ZERO time for this whole song & dance

so i just stopped chatting with any of them that made "1st contact"

i had bigger fish to fry

good luck in your search

I suspect that on the girl's end, she's filling out some form, and on the form it has requirements for desired partner.  She doesn't know she can leave it blank, so thinking she has to fill in everything, she fills in her fantasy dream desired partner.  But it's not necessarily a must-have requirement.  If you show up in person, all those "requirements" will quickly be forgotten.  Just showing up makes you tall enough, thin enough, wealthy enough.

I second what BobS said above.

Plus, if you learn 3 love songs you can sing to her and at karaoke - you will be a very romantic guy.

What Piglett says here and in his other posts (great he's lending some experienced advice ) is very good, easy to digest advice.

As to Filipina Cupid's women being concerned about a guy's height--anyone can go there for free and see for themselves that like Filipina oriented sites over all, a woman even mentioning a guy's preferred height is very rare. That's sort of to be expected in a land where not too many women are much taller than 5 ft. You ever try walking with someone who's a foot taller than you? No wonder my wife's in such good shape!

Rarely mentioning any concern for height holds true for Filipinas from the biggest cities, and rural areas alike, amongst highly educated and under educated women and across career fields. It's also true across age groups, regardless of their own height and amongst their "Platinum membership" ladies. It's even true among their 'most popular' and 'bikini babes' listed section women, as well--and you'd expect those hot, 'eye candy babes' to be a bit more picky, I guess--unless they're scammers, of course. Be careful what you wish for....

Any concerns about 'height' would be listed under the site's framework what "She's looking for" heading and by and large, besides an age range (that most DO put a range) , they'll simply put "any" (actually leaving it 'as is') on all 40 some areas.

I'd say the next most popular specific things they might fill out besides acceptable age range, would be about hair/facial hair, smoking and drinking and perhaps nation of choice and English ability, and/or religion.

I think the reason why besides age, most women leave all the "what she's looking for" lines blank is because they want to spread out their web net as widely as possible and weed the guys out later on.

Over the years, the age range that's marked as acceptable has narrowed somewhat and it seems the youngest girls and then the older women accept the widest age ranges. Once they're into their thirties and have seen the aging process more, they tend to be more picky about older fellows.

I spent a long time on Cherry Blossoms and although I'm told by friends who run the site that I'm welcome back for free, it's been a while since I was there--it was a 3 ring circus at times. But I really don't think their selection of ladies is much different than Fil. Cupid--in fact those two sites are probably the most similar--maybe CB's chat is crazier.

The sites start getting different when you go to other sites like DIA, POF, Melindas, etc. I have some buddies searching now who I help out, as well as others who've met their wives on all the sites I mentioned and there's plenty of other sites too.

As to any one site's women being more 'Americanized' than others--that's a hard call, as you can't quantify it from data. As it's always been, I do suggest staying away from profiles with half naked Filipinas, women covered in makeup and those with racy, suggestive profiles. Most 'traditional Filipinas' won't wear a bikini, never mind post a photo of themselves wearing one.

A bit of humor's fine--most Filipinos laugh as much as anyone at the darndest things, but if she's looks like a tart and is telling the whole world she's 'hot' and 'naughty'--well at least you were warned!! 8)

Yeah, I went back to the site today and didn't see nearly as much of this as when I went on it before. Guess I just saw a skewed sample size (and I was REALLY tired and stressed out about other things).

Sorry for wasting bandwidth with this pointless thread, but thanks for the advice guys!

a good rule of thumb when looking for a nice lady from the Philippines is look at her shirt

if her t*tts are 1/2 hanging out

she is a bar girl

nice girls don't dress that way over there

If I was in my twenties, I wouldn't have known the differences over there and maybe even if I did, I'd have still gone for the hot and fast--the super sexy and showing it girls. Even though I didn't end up pursuing girls along those lines, I still had to make a couple trips before I began to realize what I really liked, as well as what was best for me.

I took way too long, but I think I did pretty good.

INDAY,

the last time in was in the "PI" i never saw one woman wearing a shirt that shows what the good Lord gave her. Part of the time i was in Romblon province but the rest of the time i was in merto Manila. i didn't see a single "tramp shirt" till i was back in the airport changing planes in the states.

It was a real shock to be honest   :o
