Hey, Gyounger!

Welcome aboard! Seems most of the guys here are focused on Colombia, but that more and more, we're hearing good things from guys who are happily married to Peruvian women. ChrisF immediately comes to mind--sounds like they're doing well and it's been a good while they've been together--his lovely, educated wife is from Peru.

I think more guys are also increasingly considering Ecuador and Uruguay, as well as a few other places in South and Central America. Interesting trend. There are some real diamonds in Mexico-some real beauties who are very intelligent. There's more diversity in Mexico than most folks in the USA realize, and besides a lot of beauty in Brazil--a lot of brains too.

I went the Philippine route, was married to a Filipina for 14 years before and now am going on 8 years with my second Filipina wife.

How'd you end up going the Peru route? Speak Spanish? Did you know her very long--one visit her once, twice, or......? Great to hear from guys who are past the honey moon stage and still making it work. We could all use the inspiration at one time or another.

Robert,
We met on one of the free pen pal sites in Nov. 07. Can't remember which one...think it was Cybercupido?
Anyway, we webcammed then I took my first visit in Mar. 08.
Visited about every 3 months then got married in July '10 in Lima. Honeymooned in MP the following day then began a spousal visa when I returned to the states. 10 months later, she was in Miami.

So unlike others, it wasn't a case of meeting once then marrying.

Actually I think the guys that stick around here mostly did it like you with the multiple meets.
Retiring in Tela, Honduras is 14,600 days (haha)

True.
I couldn't imagine doing it after one meeting although logistics and $  could be a problem for many.

gyounger,

Congrats....awesome success story! I too am noticing the trend with gringos having success in Peru, and not just men that post on this board either. Welcome to the party.

Thanks Benjio.

JWR,
Her lack of English is partly my fault since we've always conversed in Spanish.

I need to show some tough love and just speak English only.

Gy,
Whatever you are doing is working so don't mess with it......

She'll learn English at her own pace.  My ex wife refused to learn English at 1st......"No mi gusta English".....I didn't push, and just told her that life here will be more interesting if you know what's going on around you.  No pressure at all and she came around..... I think her vocabulary is better then mine now...ha ha ha.

We love them because they are so different, then most guys try to start changing them as soon as they get here.   Get them in the gym, get them in college, get them in English classes.....and on and on.  Looking back, I think the better approach is to just sit back, enjoy life as it is, and let things unfold at its own pace.

Americans are in such a hurry......  Hurry to pick the right girl, hurry to get her here, hurry to fit her into our lives.  I think now it's better to just relax and enjoy the ride.   In the end, I think these smart girls will respect a guy more, if he lets them figure things out at their own pace.

JWR,
That's a new and innovative approach to marriage to a foreign girl I haven't read about before your post. Seems like a very good idea in my opinion.

That's great GY!!
Welcome.
I am very interested in the adapt slowly comments. I think I need to take that on board. Here she will be very isolated without English but on reflection, I need to sit back a little and let her work things out for herself in her own time.

Thanks V-man.
The language thing is a real uphill battle since we live in an English optional state like Fl.
Sometimes we go places (grocery store for example) and I'm the only gringo around.

The latinos in the store speak English of course but they're more comfortable speaking Spanish.
