I'm going to Cartagena on June 18th...

...I'm taking my eight year-old son to meet my fiance and her family.  We're staying at the Hilton and we will be spending virtually all of our time with her and her four year-old daughter, hanging by the pool, eating out, taking the kids to malls to go on the rides, etc.  We leave June 27th. 
If any of you blokes are gonna be in the area around that time and want to meet us for lunch just let me know.  It's refreshing to be able to speak English once in a while    and it would be good to meet any of you guys.

Visit the aquarium it’s a nice park, my first visit there was back in 92, I was twelve, my parents brought me to stay with family, I enjoyed the Spanish fort a lot.

Why the Hilton ? You can get a fabulous apartment in the same area for half the price of the Hilton and with the $$ you save , you can really show the fiance and kids a good time. PM me if you are interested in the apartments. I personally have stayed in several and would never go back to a hotel as the apartments are just much nicer.

Thanks guys!  I'll be sure to ask about that aquarium.  We chose the Hilton because I got a rate of only $150 per night and it seems they have the best pools in Boca Grande whereas an apartment wouldn't have that, at least not one that I know of.  We anticipate lounging by the pool a lot while letting the kids play in it.  But I appreciate the suggestions.  Keep 'em coming!

And what the difference betwwen the Hilton and a decent hotel in Getsemani?
 
A bigger bathroom, a bigger and fancier lobby, bellhops with monkey uniforms, maybe a bigger TV a pool and a gym, Turkish bath, etc. and that s it. its the same double bed and the same crapper...and maybe you ll have fluffier towels.....I
 
Breakfast is probably included at the Hilton, I can walk three blocks in Getsemani and get the same breakfast for 5,000 pesos...Now Im up to 45,000 pesos with breakfast (65.000 with someone else in the room) and you are at 300,000 pesos with breakfast.
 
I understand that a hotel in Getseman isn t a fit for you..but at least follow up on KBs suggestion of an apartment.....
 
Take your fiancee to the naval museum right on the water in the Old City. 7000 pesos to get in....the kids may lose their attention but it shouild be good for an hour.

Hot water really isn't a big deal in Cartagena.  It is freakin' hot there right now.  "Agua al clima" is actually pretty refreshing.

I don't know about that Whitey.  Any water that's not steaming is cold to me.  And when I have to shower in cold water I whine and cry  and get in and out as quickly as possible before I freeze my fat white ass off!
