Waiting for My Renewed Passport
« on: March 17, 2011, 08:48:13 PM »
I had a set back in my schedule to travel to the Philippines.  Work has a way of doing that but that is okay,  I have not got my passport back yet.  Based on events here, I am hoping to head to Manila in Late May or June.  I am getting excited about this trip.  With fuel prices going like they are, I am sure the tickets are not going to be cheap. It will be all good and should be fun!

Last time I renewed my passport I got it back in less than 2 weeks & that was for "regular" service.

You can check the status of your passport application online:
http://travel.state.gov/passport/status/status_2567.html

Fares in June will be higher as you will be in the peak travel season. After doing your online search & got your desired fare/airline, call the airline to see if you can get a better fare - the airlines do not publish their lower class fares.
If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?

Also be advise that there will be new interline baggage rules due to go into effect on march 31, 2011. It will affect ALL airlines. Not sure what the exact rules will be (not publish yet) but it deals with interline baggage which means transferring luggage from one airline to another.

Thank you for the link.  It figures June would be the prime travel time! And, June is the start of Hurrican season too.  It will be my luck that when I make my trvael plans there will be a Hurricane.

Over there they call it a typhoon. Same crap, just a different name.   ;D

"Most" of the typhoon problems in the Philippines are in the northern part of the country.

The major change of the new interline baggage rules will be that the luggage allowance will be based on the rules of the 'most significant carrier' of the itinerary.

Example:
If you are flying on WestJet & then connecting on British Airways -.British Airways luggage rules will apply throughout the entire trip (including the WestJet leg) as BA is the most significant airline of the two.
