I have been in China for 5 days now and today kicks off the Spring Festival as it is New Year's Eve. Happy New Year to everyone!!
My trip started out on the wrong foot as my flight from Atlanta to Tokyo was cancelled because of mechanical problems. But I was able to work some magic with the gate agent manager and got upgraded to first class on the rescheduled flights which turned out to be really nice because it was a 14 hour flight to Tokyo and then another 5 hour flight to Hong Kong.
My wife and I have gotten settled into our new apartment where we will be staying for the next 3 months. We have been guests at dinners every night that I have been here so far - all her friends and family have been holding dinners in our honor since this is the first time that we have returned to China as a married couple. I have to leave in a bit for another lunch and then we have a big New Year's dinner planned with my wife's family tonight. Have to run now. Happy New Year!!
