It's interesting, my wife, whose father was in the Japanese Army during WWII, was never taught that Pearl Harbor was the impetus for involving the US in the war, and didn't know the significance until we visited there a few years ago. Now she does.

A simitanious ground invasion of the Philippines began at the same time as the attack on Pearl Harbor. The aerial bombardment of Clark and Iba Airfields began about 8 hours later.

Intitially the Japanese tried to convince the Filipinos that they were all brothers. "Asia for Asians!" The Japanese brutality toward Filipinos soon convinced them otherwise.

Yes, I toured the WWII monument in Manila when I visited the Philippines.  On the walls are thousands of brave Filipinos who fought the Japanese.  My fiance had no idea about WWII and how important the Philippines and Filipinos were in winning that war.

Eh?  Doesn't she know why they have a national holiday on April 9th? (Bataan Day)

Let me rephrase it...when I told her about Pearl Harbor and the other attack on the Philippines she knew about that very well.  I guess that I should say that she was proud that there were so many Filipino soldiers and sailors that gave their lives.  And that they are recorded side by side with the Americans who also gave their lives in that effort.  Sorry, I am a US history teacher lol.  That is why I started looking into the Philippines in the first place.  Then I found out about beautiful faithful women lol

I don't think they teach anything about pearl harbor in most of the schools here in the U.S.

A date which will live in infamy

in the words of Franklin Roosevelt, or "A day of infamy".....as spoken by Queen Liliuokalani, in reference to the United States Marines taking Pearl Harbor by force on January 16, 1893 and eventually deposing her monarchy and annexing the whole country into the United States.

you walk over the boat thinking this is ancient history, and then you see the oil drip. Was weird watching the movie that told the whole story of WW2 in the pacific. Tons of japanese tourists there. Haha you didn't think the film was just going to cover pearl harbor now did you fellow tourists?
Retiring in Tela, Honduras is 14,600 days (haha)
