I just wanna share my Mom experience on her Immigrant visa journey. She pass her interview today December 2,2008.She made her medical exam two weeks ago. It's not easy journey for our parent since we know we all been through all this.Honestly I really hate to think I put my mom thru all this. But grateful and thankful she survive. When we petition our parent we become like their parents and they became like our child almost. We worry so much for them and hope they answer all the question and all the challenge ahead of them.
Mom is 68 years old.She only speak my local language although she can say and understand  tagalog and few english but I can just say she is lack of confidence.I work hard to build mom confidence and show her I trust her  so much.
The challenge is during medical exam.Mom never been  sick nor been to the hospital before not even a doctor office. Thanks God she is very healthy after delivering 8 of us kids. The staff in St. Luke Medical well all nice to her. They actually let my niece accompany with her all the time.We are very grateful for them.I read and heard they never let anybody in during medical but I tell you they let my niece inside. The second day they even let my second niece to be with them too. It's funny becuase my first niece I can tell she is perfectionist. It really help if someone accompany with them have that kind of attitude of course she is a teacher and had to leave 2 days work just for mom medical. They give mom extra confidence. Please if your parent gonna go thru all these make sure you do lots of research and give them all the information they needed to speed up the process.Staff in St. Luke Medical clinic actually let one companion for senior citizen.
On her interview we are just grateful too that they let my Nun sister in inside. It;s actually surprise me.She help mom a lot inside and guide her all through the process but they never let my Nun sister in in consul interview.Mom question is (Does your daughter work in U.S? her answer is No,second question is Where she got married? she answer In U.S third question is What's your daughter husband job? she said Farmer and then she pass and got approve.Hopely they will deliver her visa soon.

Hi Raquel,

Congratulations to your mother!

Your mom was lucky! My wife's sister (a US citizen and nurse) was only allowed to sit in the waiting area of St. Lukes while her mother did the physical in June 2008. My mother-in-law is also a senior citizen, but nobody was allowed to accompany her to the exam rooms. They asked and were told it was not allowed.

Her interview was also only three similar questions.

P.S. I am very happy to report that my annulment petition was granted by the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Miami and confirmed by the Tribunal of the Diocese of Pittsburg, acting as a Court of Second Instance in at the end of October. It was ruled that my former marriage (Catholic) was " proven to be invalid according to the teachings and laws of the Catholic Church;" My only regret is that it took 13 years for me, a Protestant, to obtain justice. My best Christmas ever!  ;D
