Brazil week one
« on: April 08, 2008, 08:40:30 AM »
It has been a wonderful week and I do not want to return to Canada.

The last day before we left Sorocarba for my girlfriends home city of Itapiva. I was luckily enough to meet the mother of her ex-husband or the grandmother of her daughter.

We were walking and meet her at a little bar close to one of her friends home.  We stop in I order a couple of beer 600 ml for $1.20. I get introduced to grandmother ( Loco ) and she wants to come to Canada and that she has disowned her son. I tell her that I can only bring relatives,  brothers, sisters ect.. OMG......

Over the last week my girlfriend has told me quite a bit about her first marriage. And they take domestic violence to a new level in south America. I am still amazed at her and that she is such a wonderful person from the problems she has had to face.

I then get introduced to her single also crazy daughter and you guess correctly she to wants to come to Canada.  OMG.....
She asks my girlfriend if I have any single friends. She replies yes a few..

Not being serous she said that she would pass on a few e-mails.. By this time it is raining very hard and there is no escape. My girlfriend has told me at least 10 times over the two hours " Sorry Name not my family ".

But I told her over that I can talk to any body and I was not offended. Some of the people are actually fun to talk to.

Luckily the rain stopped, I paid the tab ( I think I was the only person with a job ) and we retreated back to our hotel...

Well we jumped on a bus on its off to Itapeva to meet more of her friends and family. ( the sane ones I was hoping )

We arrive in Itapeva and I check into the hotel, she heads home to see her daughter. Itapeva is a small city of 150,000 people with very little crime but not to many jobs. Walking around during the day or night is not a problem.

The first night I get to meet two of her friends which I have been talking to on MSM. Just like Rio everyone does not go out until 10:00 PM. We talk have a few drinks some food. By this time I am ready to go to bed as it is 1:00 AM. But no it is time to go dance.. So off we go to another club and drink and dance until 5:00 AM... Every goes home and I finally get to go to bed..

Meet the relatives.

My girlfriend had told me that her father and family does not have very much money. I told her that it does not matter to me, I will still like them.

I get to there house and yes they are very poor. The house is old but at least they have a roof over there heads. I get introduced to everyone and no one speaks English. But they do there best to make me happy. I brought some small gifts from canada in which the children really liked.Quite a fun time, I think she though that I would not like them.

Girlfriends Surprise Birthday Party.

Me and my girlfriends two Amegas have been planning a birthday party for her for 1 month. A couple of times it was good that she does not speak very good English or she would have found out.

I paid for the party and it cost me  $200 for beer and every thing. I have never filled up a trunk of a car with beer for $100. It would be a good ice breaker to meet the rest of the family. Nothing like a few beers and food to get to know someone.

Anyway she was very surprised when we walked into the back yard of her friends house. Everyone had very good time and no I can not do karaoke in English or Portuguese.

I am sorry for not looking at this sooner.  Much drama in another thread.  I am happy that things are going well for you.  I originally thought about going to Brazil but once i heard you have to have a visa then I just didn't feel like going through the motions.  Brazil has some very very beautiful women.  Good luck to you

A visa to Brazil is very easy to get in Canada or USA. I defiantly think I have found the one that I was looking for.

Just today I was going to sign her up for English lessons at one school for 200 Reals/month. She said Nao to much money we ended up at another school which she likes for $100 Reals/month or $62 month. I guess she is cautious with her money since she does not make much.

hi Canadian guy,
nice report,  where is her city located in Brazil, what major city did you have to fly into 1st ?
I flew into Sao Paulo the largest city in Brazil most airlines go to GRU, American or Canadian.  From there I went to Sorocarba a city of 500,000 about 2 hours east. I stayed there for a week. Not a bad place some English good dancing spots on most nights but you will make better mileage is you can speak some Portuguese. Some very beautiful women and my girlfriend would even comment on them. She was keeping close tabs on me and got a little peeved when other people would crowd into our dancing space.

Then it was on a bus for two hours east again to Itapeva to my Namorada´s home city. Almost zero English and the only way i can get money is through the instant teller on my master card. ( Cirrus ). Banking Cards with Plus on them work no where in this city and I have tried all 8 banks.

I do not know how easy it would be to find women at the clubs here as i already have one. Although I was introduced to at least 30 on the one night we went out.

As in most city's in south America there is prostitution every where since unemployment is very high. So be picky who you find make sure they are working at a normal job.
