Self Introduction
« on: July 21, 2009, 11:57:06 PM »
Hi John here.
I am 41 years old - I will be 42 this August. I do not look my age - I look younger.
I live in New York City for the pass 25 years.
I am single - never married. No children.
Don't drink, smoke or do drugs.
I am African-American - well I was thrown into that group as I am black. lol

I was born in St. Lucia - there I spent the first 16 years of my life.
I can all the necessary daily chores - I cook, clean, can do laundry by hand (I learn as a kid). I learn to do "everything" at an early age.

People say that I am very empathic person & also warm-hearted. I am the type of person who always like to help that other person & that could lead to me getting hurt....which haven't really happened yet. People say that I am too nice & they always tells me that nice guys finish last. Well, I prefer to be nice than...

I have always been interested in Filipina women - even at an early age - but never pursued it.

Currently I am talking to a few people - none to seriously - just casual.

I am here so you guys & gals can guide & teach me. I am here to learn.

Thanks guys I have been reading the various post since while I was waiting for approval.
So far I have learn a lot.

I joined Filipinaheart.com yesterday, I went for the platinum membership & soon after I finished I already had about 10 messages.

I already encountered one scammer. 18 year old, she ask for money for a webcam 'cause she want me to see her, me wanting to see where she was heading ask her to send her email & home address to my email account. I have an email account I use just for junk emails. She said that she will send it to me, then suddenly went offline. later I too went offline & when I came back on I had a message from her - she said that she didn't have ID yet to send the money in her brother's name & to leave her an offline message. yeah right ;D

Is there a place where we can post scammers name?

I also chatted with another one who told me that her mom is sick in the hospital & was in ICU for about a month.
That one I have mix bags about. Some things she describe to me,  medical terms and such & the medicine involve in treating. Personally, I know about the medicine she describe & it is used for the illness she describe. (I didn't tell her anything about me knowing it - I was picking her brain). Maybe she is a nurse who is using her medical knowledge to scam people.

I also joined filipinamatch.com last month  - I have exchange a few messages there with ladies.

There are 2 people I meet on filipina match that I am constantly chatting with - one more as a penpal (not really a love interest)- she is  40 she is currently in Macau  to her way to HK to work as a nurse.
I will be traveling to HK in January with friends so maybe I may meet up with her in HK & chat.

The other one I am feeling her & she is what I would go for  -26 yrs old,  my ideal weight & height in a filipina. (that I did not post on that site). We chat on YM about twice a week & also exchange emails...only thing did puzzle me at first was that she do not read her the emails right away but about 3 days after I sent them to her. I still use filipana match too exchange emails with her - it tells me if the sent email is read or not.
Today she gave me her phone number so I will call her at unexpecting hours to see plus I will call her back-to-back using 2 different phones in case of caller ID. I read that from someone - I am not sure if it is here.
I just want to be careful & make sure she is genuine.

All advice are welcome.

I will continue reading the various post & asking question. And I will also head into the archives.

Also a fellow planet-love member recommended this site to me.

Welcome to the Planet.  Yeah, in the U.S. generally, and in U.S. big cities in particular, being a decent nice guy is worthless.  You will be much more appreciated in Asia.

So you discovered the scammers!  Nice, eh?  There used to be a website for posting suspected scammers, but posting their name is not much help.  It's probably not her real name anyway, and she's probably using different names with different guys.

Don't worry too much about the long delay for the one girl  in reading e-mails.  She may not have her own computer but must save her lunch money to be able to use a net café to chat with you.  Appreciate the ones that put in effort for you.  It's a different experience than dealing with AW, that's for sure.

Did she ask for money for medical bills or did it seem like she was waiting for you to offer? I don't think that most "good girls" would ask a total stranger. When I "met" (letters, phone) my future Filipina wife (married 8 years) her mother was about to undergo life saving surgery at a very high tech (expensive as well) hospital in a major city. But, she never asked me for any money!

It may be a scam, but serious illness is not uncommon here. Since Filipinos are usually poor (at least by our standards, not neccessarily theirs), many people often wait until they are seriously ill before they seek proper medical care. "Faith healers" are very popular because their prices are usually affordable. As a result many people don't get the advanced medical care that is needed and their condition often gets worse. Medicine can also be too the costly, making herbal "substitutes" that "cure" everything very popular. Still, I don't think it is good to ask a stranger for money! I can't recall my wife asking me for money...even now.  ;D

Maybe she is a nurse who is using her medical knowledge to scam people.

That could very well be the case.

Hi Dave,
No she never asked for money. She said that she is trying to get money from various family members. For some reason, what I think she is telling me is true, I can relate to what she is saying. The liver condition that her mom have - my next door neighbor had the same condition - and she is describing it to a tee. And what she  said to me,  I thing that they waited too long before getting advance medical care. I also did a look-up on the cost of the medicine in the Philippines, wow, they are expensive.

I will be chatting with her again tomorrow.

Buffalo him die. Send money.

Hi John. Say, you mentioned being born in St. Lucia, are you a US citizen? That will make a big difference in sponsoring somebody for a visa. I think you can bring in a spouse if you are an LPR, but only a citizen can sponsor a fiancee. We have a couple of lawyers who specialize in immigration cases (and one or two very knowledgeable layman) who hang out here, they are free to correct me if what I just wrote is not accurate.

Hello

I'm Mason, I'm way new to this whole forum thing so if I could get some advice on how to actually reply to already existing topics that would be great.

I'm 22 and this is my first time on this site but I'm fairly educated to the foreign dating scene.
