You're right, I don't think we ever had a report from Africa on these boards, or on the old PL site (course there's no place set up for them either). In the last couple of years several introduction sites have been created for ladies from Africa, some of them seem to receive quite a bit of traffic. The ladies appear very motivated and interested in meeting foreign guys (black, brown or white).

Language and distance/costs appear to be the primary barriers. Certainly in South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya the English language is spoken to one degree or another, less so in Ethiopia. It also seems that many of the ladies from Ethiopia are very religious and conservative.

Without being offensive, some of the monger sites have "travel" reports about these countries.

Yes they do seem to be a religious lot. One stated in her profile that she was a daughter of Jesus which surprised me since I've been given to understand that Jesus didn't go in for that sort of thing (fathering daughters). Anyway it's a big continent and the MOB industry maybe isn't as over saturated as Colombia plus there are real stunners on the websites.

Has anyone actually BEEN to an African country and met the African women who live there?

The Africans who are here are NOT representtative of their home countries.  They are usually the wealthiest and best connected in their countries.   I travelled to Nigeria in 1990.  It was an eye-opening education.  African populations live mostly in small rural towns.  The opposite of the developed world where most of the poulation lives in dense cities.  When I was there, they were still electrifying the cities.  City slums did not have electricity.  The rural towns not only don't have electricity, the residents don't know about electricity!   The live as their forebears did 100 years ago.

The cities with universities and the students in them can be a good source of wife material.   But Nigerian society is VERY different from US society.   The ethnic / tribal allegiances and animosities we are seeing in Iraq and Afghanistan also exist in Nigeria and to no lesser extent.   Because we in NA, regardless of race, do not belong to any ethnicity or tribe in Nigeria, we will not readily be accepted into a Nigerian family.   This is particularly true for women's husbands.   Men can marry whomever they want (Seal and Hiede Klum) but a Nigerian woman must marry a man who is acceptable to the family.

I would just like to echo what Brazilophile says about the cultural differences between these women and our own western culture. There was recently news about Somalians who were brought to this country and the trouble they had in adapting. They didn't know how to dress for cold winters or use a light switch, and some couldn't exit a room because they weren't familiar with doorknobs. They're not stupid, they just come from an existence that is radically different from ours. I too have seen pictures of some women from Ethiopia. They were tall and attractive, but consider the culture gap and be warned.

Well I was dating a dominicana and took her to resort in Jarabacoa up in the mountains that had hot water. She had no idea how to mix the hot and cold faucets. The part about family acceptance of the husband is interesting but the girls who sign up with the websites seem to be aiming at American men.
