Long time lurker making an introduction

Hello everybody!

I have had an account with you guys for a long time, and don't think I have ever really posted.  Recently I have been getting ready to start being serious about a search for a long term relationship with a Latina. 

A bit about myself:

I am a 34 yr old WM from Colorado.  I have never been married, and glad to date that I haven't been.  I have traveled to South America several times over the past few years, never to look for a long term relationship.  Most of my trips have been to Venezuela as I have some friends that live there and its always a nice vacation.  In my travels there I have meet some women, but nothing more then a holiday fling though, and they always take my breath away.   

I have told myself this is the year I was going to get serious about finding someone to be in my life.  I have been doing my darnedest to find a lady here locally that would be a good fit for me, but haven't had much luck.  I have found that most of the local talent is so jaded that it isn't worth the effort.  The long term rewards just don't appear to be there as it might be with a woman from south America.

So now that I have been armed with information from this site and others I think I can begin to search.  I will have a "TON" of questions as I begin.  I tend to try to have as much information in hand before I dive head first into anything.

I am thinking doing an agency to begin with just so I can get my feet on the ground and get some experience.  I have read that many of you don't really like them, but I think it might help to see how things work.  I have it narrowed down to the following agencies, based on what I have read on this and other boards:

A couple of questions to get started:

how long before a first trip would one start to make contact with ladies?

For a first trip is 10 to 14 days enough, or should I do a shorter trip to begin?

Is May a good time, weather wise?

I always become homesick after about 4-5 days, even when I met my Fiance, I still was ready to come back home.  For me, a trip of 7 days is good, but that is just me. If you aren't going to miss home (kids) then I see no negatives of staying as long as you can to maximize your opportunities.   

Good luck in your search, you have chosen good agencies (Cali Charm & Latin Wife). I have never been to the other two.

I did extensive research on the agencies including talking to many guys who used them on the phone.. I would say latin-wife is the best out there.. Jamie is a very straight shooter.. I was going to go down and use Jamie before things clicked with my girl..

Sean126 , Lookingforwife and many others have found a wife with his agency.. raycjs has found a fantastic fiancé last October..

I would start a new thread in the general Latin section with your questions and you will get a lot of responses..

Man at 32 you are going to do great and have a blast.. The advice I would give is think
very seriously what you are looking for in a wife. Then stick to what you are looking for.. Look for great character and values.. Beautiful women seem to grow on trees in Colombia and Peru.. I think they put something in the water.. lmao

ABout the questions:

1. You will find mixed opinions here about contacting the ladies. If you are going to try writing some, don't do it too many months before a trip. The women want to see you are serious about coming to meet them. they are not looking for penpals. Personally, I don't promote the writing before meeting. Letters don't convey chemistry and you can be misled something is developing, when after meeting you discover there is no interest at all. Things just aren't clicking.

2. As far as the length of trip, I have been down 7 times and never for less than 12 days.  A short trip may not leave you enough time to find your special lady or if you do find her, you will wish you had more time to spend one on one with her.  When I met my wife, I made introductions with Jamie's agency for 3 days. I met my wife the first night and once the 3 days of intros was over, I had another 9 days with just her in my condo. That was really nice.

Good luck!  Since you're 34 and chose agencies in Cali and Baranquilla as possibilities, is your criteria to meet a lot of young and beautiful girls as possible? My best friend did use Jamie's agency in Baranquilla, a few years ago, brought back a fabulous woman, and they are still married.

Some suggestions.

Stay as long as you can, especially if you speak Spanish.  If you don't speak Spanish, everything will be a whirl, after a while the girls will look alike and I would suggest no more then 10-12 days.

You are going to see a lot of girls, with tight jeans, behinds you can fry an egg on,  big boobs and dark long hair, and after three days you won;t be able to tell Maria from Viviana from Sandra.  Get the agency to give you photocopies of their profiles and write notes on the back after your first cita.

Decide what your goal is. Do you want to dance and party?  Or do you want to look for a wife?   Its just my opinion, the less time you spend going out in groups and the more time you spend one on one with women, the better shot you have at finding a potential wife.  You will also cut down your expenses, if you meet women one on one.       

Start thinking of little tests or little questions you can use to separate them out and give them chances to stand out. if you don't speak Spanish, you will rely on the agency, but if you give yourself 90 days before you go down and dive into Spanish an hour or two a day or a night, you can really help yourself.

i was looking at older women then you, but one thing I did was every time I was asked about my job, I said the same thing.  With a straight face I said in Spanish: "It's a sad story. I used to be an international jewel thief and work on the rooftops.  But because of my weight (I then pointed to my gut, I'm 5'10 and 225) , now I can only steal from basements and my income is very low. So, if you're looking for a rich husband, I'm sorry, but I'm not the man for you"

All in a straight face.  If they started laughing, or made a wise crack, I knew they had a sense of humor and probably some social confidence which were important qualities for me.

If they were stiff or looked at me as If I was crazy I would say: Es solamente una broma (its only a joke) and if they still didn't smile or laugh, they were an easy cut for me.  Figure out how to get at their personal qualities and characters.

So spend some time developing your first cita dialogue.   All these girls are gong to tell you that they want a husband that is loyal, faithful, honest, tender and a hard worker.  Your job is to get them to tell you more or figure out as much as you can within the first hour.  You can do yourself an enormous amount of good over two cups of coffee, and taxi fare and avoid dating, spending more time and more money on women who are not good prospects for you.

But you have to do the work first.

Sorry i haven't been back recently things have gone a bit pear shaped with work and things etc.  But at currently don't think I will be doing to long of a trip my first time down, as due to time constrains during the first half of the year. 

I do know that I am not going to down there to look for hot young women, if I want that I can put forth the effort here and get them.  What I am going for is wife material, so thanks for the insight on how to approach things when making a date down there.

As for Spanish I am not too good, i can do the normal gringo things.  I do have plans this first quarter to get into Spanish more and become fluent.  So by the time I get down there I should have a good handle on the language. 

I have heard nothing but good things about Jamies agency, so I will be using them.   Since I am planning to go sometime in May, I will have to get on the ball with learning spanish and getting contacts started with the agency.

I will be around more in the next few weeks when things slow down again.

Jamie's agency is first class.  My best friend used jamie's agency and found his wife.  Jamie has different servcies that he offers on his web site. 

The premium service that Jamie uses (three group meetings a day, every day and one on one meetings is pretty intensive.  raycjs on this board is a client and he can tell you the straight skinny, how much  will cost, etc. You might think about contacting him, i called raycjs, he is a real good guy and spent a lot of time with me on the phone.

Good Luck and when you have time read my trip report Jamie's service was outstanding i spent only 6 days there and to me it was too short. I am a single father
so it is hard for me to be away from home for more then 4 to 6 days. I now travel to barranquille every 5 to 6 weeks you will have a blast and your age is perfect i have you by 10 years and it was great for me have fun with the 18 to 21 year olads but if your looking for long term then look 24 year of age plus.

well guys i did it, I am booked for May at Jamie's place.  I haven't been on the boards as much as i would like recently yet again, but I will frequent it more as I prepare to take the trip.

Congratulations on your decision. Everyone who has been to Jamie's will tell you that the service you will get is wonderful.

rcjs and quixote are the main men, they filed very detailed trip reports within the last few months. 

You've got 6 weeks to learn some Spanish.   That you make an effort to learn the language shows sincerity and respect for the women.

I actually know a bit of spanish, I really just know traveling spanish.  But yes I am learning to be more proficient.

I have been reading the reports also, and now I am more nervous then I was before.  So we will see.
