Cebu City hotel/housing
« on: January 13, 2010, 01:04:47 AM »
Anyone recommend hotels with a good price in Cebu? The Diplomat seems polular and I found this place http://sdrapartments.com/  which looks really nice for $33.00 a night.
Anyone else have any recommendations or places to search? I'm looking around March 2010

I spent two weeks at Castle Peak Hotel in Cebu City.  I can't remember exactly but I think it was around $ 35 a night. They have wifi in the lobby and the restaraunt if that is important to you.  I was close to Ayla Mall which is really nice.  It is more of an indoo outdoor type of mall.  You can sit outside and have a nice meal with your lady!  Cebu City is really nice compared to the crowded Manila.  There is quite a bit to do there so you should have a good time.

Midtown Hotel is nice, sort of in the middle price wise--I'm not sure what the rates are lately. It's attached to the Robinson Mall and is pretty central to most of the things, places most kanos want to do and see.  If you have time, the ferry ride to Bohol isn't to long or expensive.
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

It’s been a few years, but I stayed a couple of times at the West Gorordo Hotel in Lahug, Cebu City.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced.

The Ayala Mall is nearby.

The restaurant downstairs is excellent for Chinese and Filipino cuisine.

No pool, if you care.

Should be around $25-30/day.

A pool will be nice but not required. I'm trying to get some recommended places so she can check them out for us.

On the same not, what do you think a daily budget for food would be? Nothing fancy. I can eat from street vendors that she does regularly up to a sit down decent meal. She say about $2.00 is plenty for breakfast and lunch maybe 3. Dinner about $8.00- $10.00 is plenty. What do you guys think?

Unless you’re on a very tight budget, I think a good simple rule is to allow about $100/day to cover all expenses other than the hotel room itself. That should cover food for two (or more if chaperones), transportation, shopping, sightseeing, etc., etc…

With no unforeseen emergencies, you should have some extra cash left over.

I was in Cebu over the holidays.  I stayed at Eddie's Hotel (I think it is now called Beverly's Business Boutique).  It was about 1400 pesos a night.  It was clean with nice resturaunt on the ground floor.  Good location in Cebu City.  No frills no pool.  I enjoyed it.
