Title: Retiring Abroad - Colombia
Post by: ag1987 on December 27, 2021, 06:37:16 AM
Understand this place has been less active - let's try to revive some discussion.

Anyone out there retire to Colombia recently? Heck, any Latin American country really. How is it going? Are you continuing to work?

Wife and I's long-term plan is to finish out my military career here and then head to Colombia for retirement. I plan to have a couple rental properties, nothing to be rich, but something to augment a pension and keep me on somewhat of a routine.

Getting harder and harder to get a Visa here.

And who knows what
will happen if Petro gets in.

Would probably be thnking abiut heading to Ecuador after 10 years here in Colombia, if it wasnt for family commitments here for at least another 2 or 3 years.

Expat why is it harder to get a visa (presumably resident) these days?

Well it may be now but wasn't when I got mine. One thing about it is that the Resident visas are now permanent at least until they change the rules again. You now only need to renew your cedula every five years.
