A few years back my niece applied for a visa to come visit us. My mother in law applied at the same time. My mother in law was approved and has visited us every year since. My niece, 5 years old at the time, was turned down. This year my niece and her father applied for a visitor visa and both were easily approved.
Of course this is good news for us but I am wondering if this is because visitor visas are just easier to get now? I have heard they are easier to get now. Has anyone heard the same?

Yes. A buddy of mine's Mom is from Colombia and she says that overall, tourist visas from Colombia to the USA are a lot easier to get nowadays.

I don't know if you guys know this, but starting next year, Colombians and Peruvians will no longer NEED a visa to come to the European Union (for a short visit):

:O those lucky prepagos will get trips to Europe left and right...
I almost envy them!
But seriously, this might put americans at a disadvantage since I have heard colombianas are pretty interested in Europeans because they are more "exotic" or the lazy ones just like the guys from Spain because it is an easier transition.
