Did you take a group lesson or find a private instructor somewhere? And were you able to pick up the Cali style pretty easily?  Last but not least, keep us updated on how it is going with the ladies....

Sorry for the long delay.  I'm only on PL in spurts.

1) I went to group classes at a couple of dance academies... Jacaranda and Bachateros Cali.

2) There is no "picking up the Cali style pretty easily".  It's very complex with layers of complexity.  Lots of videos on YouTube teaching Cali style, step by step.  I plan to study and practice some of those before I return. I did work on some videos between classes while I was there.

I wanted to interject that Juan Valdez is a real enough person here in Colombia. His job is to promote Colombian coffee. There are actually two men named Juan Valdez. They are like male models with the responsibility of promoting Colombian coffee. One of them is from the Antioquia department, near Medellin, the other is from my own little pueblo of Santuario, about halfway between Medellin and Pereira.
They both own coffee farms and spend most of their time being normal, but they come out on special occasions, dressed in the style of Colombian coffee farmers, and do what they can to promote sales.
hereĀ“s a photo of the Risaralda Juan Valdez with my main squeeze Luisa at a recent coffee promotion day near Pereira.

If you are unhappy change something. Quit your job. Move. Leave your miserable relationship. Stop making excuses. You are in control.

I know you consider yourself a writer and author but...

...dressed in the vernacular of Colombian coffee farmers...

...that's a bit of a stretch.

I changed it to dressed in the style of ..... okay, feel better now?  ;D
The term dressed in the vernacular of.....is even used in book titles and academia: http://www.academia.edu/989243/_Commodified_craft_Creative_Community_Womens_Vernacular_Dress_in_Nineteenth_Century_Philadelphia_in_The_culture_of_sewing_gender_consumption_and_home_dressmaking
