Thank god Santos won the second round! Zuluaga would have been a disaster for Colombia on many counts.

The only reason Santos got in is because the normal Colombians dont vote  but the FARC and ELN do.

Doesn't seem very fair. Colombia is in an easy group. Greece being the hardest opponent

Or maybe just maybe colombians didn't want to elect a right-wing dictator.

Something like 50% of Colombians did not vote in the latest presidential election. The US doesn't do much better.

Good thing the courts would not let Uribe run for a third term. No matter how good or effective he was...if you want a taste of Chavez you bend the constitution to allow the "popular" guy get back in the saddle.

Despite all the violence and conflict over the years....it is pretty amazing Colombia pulls off a peaceful transfer of power every four years.  No military rule since the 1950's. It is actually pretty impressive.....
