Best places to stay in Bogotá for Visa Interview?
« on: March 26, 2007, 02:11:13 PM »
Any suggestions on the best places to stay in Bogotá for the visa interview?

I am most interested in:

1. How close is it to embassy?
2. How cheap is it?
3. Is it a good value for the money?
4. Security/Safety

NOTE: My wife said she is interested in a place she can cook for us (i.e. furnished apartment with kitchen), but I will settle for a reasonably priced hotel as close as possible to the embassy.

Thanks in advance...

This is one of the places on my list to check out.  Do you have any idea how close it is to the embassy?

Casa de Huéspedes Doña Flor [THIS IS A HOSTAL NOT HOTEL.]
     (Two blocks from U.S. Embassy)
     Senora Flor de Garcia, Gerente
     Carrera 44C #22A-16
     Barrio Quinta Paredes, Bogotá
     Teléfono 011-57-1-269-8694      011-57-1-269-7436
Telefax: 011-57-1-269-3926 (About $35US per Night
     with Breakfast)

[This is a Bed & Breakfast style House or Hacienda with 7 rooms, which others have said is homey, safe with an on-site lady owner 24/7 who has helped other visa applicants before.]

This is one of the places on my list to check out.  Do you have any idea how close it is to the embassy?

Our Main Bogota apartments for rent Location: Located in the quiet neighborhood in the Bogota barrio Modelia for a quiet nights sleep, 3 min. walk to bakeries, beauty salon, local stores, 6 min. walk to a large retailer Carrefour (similar to a Wal Mart) where a new shopping mall is also being built.

Our second Bogota apartments location is located in Ciudad Salitre, our Bogota apartments are located near Salitre Plaza, a modern three story shopping mall, across the street from Maloka a world famous science center and 7 min. from the airport and 3 min. from the U.S. Embassy, and a 5 min. walk to the main Bogota bus terminal.
Both locations are located about 10 min. apart and centrally located to most anything a tourist or business person may need.

I hope this helps. I have a few others since I have been looking for an apartment for a week in June to check out Bogota con mi amiga. Let me know if you want me to post the links.
