Found a flight to Bogota for $370 from Ontario near LAX. Probably won't go to Cali unless I know someone there. I was body slammed in centro in 2005 but KOd the attackers got away injured. Felix can verify my story as he met me in airport on crutches. Since then 3 men I have met were murdered there. Everyone else I knew fled Cali.

I think you have to make a certain number of posts before they let you PM other members.

Like BCC said, you need to make more postings before using the PM.   Not long ago I was a newbie in sister's site - Russian version and couldn't make PM until I've made new more postings.


So, Mr Eastwood, make few more postings about your movies ......

I go to Colombia in early May and wanted to get in contact with Calipro if residing in Colombia.  I sent PM to CaliPro at www.gringos.com/forum/private.php

I don't post useless fluff but will post trip report here if anything interesting happens. gringos is now a travel site for expats

Please post the details on how you found a flight from Ontario to Bogota for $370!  Where did you find it and on what airline?  Is it round trip.  To travel from California to Colombia that is an amazing airfare.

I do not know where he got it from, but I purchased a return ticket (London to Buenos Aires) for next month at only £280 which is about $420.  I got it via SkyScanner but from advert in one of the pages because they knew I was searching for the flights!   sort of "spyware" !!

There are always 2 sides to every story.
I have been travelling to Colombia since 2004, including spent a lot f time in Cali (which I  tend to avoid) . I am now living in Colombia.   I have probably spent over 3 years actual time , on the ground, insided Colombia. This includes travelling by bus , train and taxi to dozens of different locations in every part of the country.
Never, in all my time have I been physically threatened , either for profit or general maliciousness..

I know many guys who have had issues, and it usually involves more than  one of the following:

1. Women of dubious nature.
2. Being in a bad part of town after 10 PM
3. Under the influence of drugs or alcohol
4. Carrying, or withdrawing a large anmount of money in cash from a bank, on a regular   scheduled basis
5. Wearing flashy clothing and jewelery and talking loudly
6. Treating people badly , with disrespect or being agressive.

OK the only point above I am sometimes negligent in  is no. 6. I do get a bit assertive with people when they do the que jumping. My friend says I should keep a low profile. But I find it really disrespectful and it angers me when these people use the old " I am with my friend in front" (who may be an aquaintance or only thier  friend for the first time at that minute or may not even exist)  bull[snip] line or they just plain ass interupt when you are dealing with the sales person. However ,I try to be tactful and keep my anger down when I am dealing with these people. Luckily, nothing has happened yet.
