1000 Post Reflections
« on: March 02, 2011, 01:55:40 AM »
Ok, finally the venerable #1000 post!

I'm closing in on you Porky! (I still want the boots buddy!)

Took me just under a year to reach this mark, Joined March 26th, 2010.

Some #1000 post reflections and random sh*t:

Some guys are really jerks.  Its amazing how many guys I have talked to (good friends of mine) that really are shallow and stupid.  Because I have developed a real love for the Philippines its really hard for me to listen the the jokes, and snide remarks people make about the islands.  Its not everyone mind you, just some and it really bothers me.  I guess because my sweetie is filipina and when they say negative things they are talking about her too.  That sucks. Oh well, life ain't fair.

P-L is comprised of guys that don't really know each other!  I mean in the traditional way of guys meeting up to hit the strip club, a bar, golf range, basket ball or tailgating at the UTK football game (Go Vols! hehe).  But over the last year, I have learned that brotherhood (and sisterhood) is universal.  Its good to be surrounded by principled people with ethics, morals and solid sense of right and wrong.  (And funny muthafu*kers like Piggy!!)

I made a few mistakes (well more than a few) in this journey, but thankfully, I READ THE ARCHIVES!!  And was an avid daily reader of the posts here, really helped me.  I don't know what I would have done without P-L.  I know I would have made many many more mistakes without you guys!  Just wanna say thanks, you know who you are!!!  ;D

There are stupid people all over the planet!

The Latin forum is like a frat party!  Where the Asia forum reminds me of a country club.  Maybe that's an unfair analogy, but I think it fits.  I mean guys that go after Asian babes are not the party type, introverted, highly opinionated and non confrontational.  (Except for Ray&W3!!  ;D)  Now the Latin Forum, you better be prepared for anything!  It's still mostly civil over there (Jeff holds them back) great set of guys, but you can just read the posts and tell, the egos abound and the party may get started anytime!!  (Zon, Fathertime)

Pinays are the most jealous women on the planet!  I think if a pinay were to immigrate to Colombia and marry a typical guy from there, she would kill him!  Seriously!

Growing up, guys always dreamed of a virgin when they married, not a very realistic dream because most of the girls we knew were banging the older guys by the time they were 15, but....I digress.   Anyways, you can find that in the Philippines if you want it.  But do you really want that? Do you want to play basketball with a guy who has never played?  (Don't twist this analogy Piggy!!  :D) Anyways, I can see the obvious merits in marrying a virgin, but...IDK...something to think about anyways...

Is it really a good idea to move to the Philippines?  This is something I really want to do and over the last year have looked into all aspects of this idea.  Benefits: lower cost of living and proximity to wifes family, close proximity to lots of great places.  Negatives: Questionable Healthcare as you get older, Travel distance as you get older, Hurricaines, diseases that will kill you, too many hot young women to distract you from your hot young wife!!  hehe

Am I crazy?  I've flown to Asia on business, a 20+ hour combined plane ride sucks!  Airports suck!  Sitting in an uncomfortable seat suck!  Hotels really suck!  Asian fight attendants, holy bat sh*t!!  Why do I have to travel all the way to the Philippines again?  ;D

I need to learn Tagalog, seriously.  I hate it when I can't understand sh*t anyone is saying around me, I mean that bugs me to no end.  I have done business all over the world, Africa, Asia, Middle East, South America and Caribbean.  Used interpreters a lot.  But for personal stuff like this thats not feasible.  That's why I chose the PI.  I love Latinas!!  mwah!!  I just couldn't see myself learning a language just to talk to a babe!!  The PI, everyone speaks and understands American English, gotta love it.  But at some point, I want to know what every is talking about at family gatherings, on the street, in my cab! You feel me?

I love posting on P-L.

Why? Well...You never know what the F*ck anyone is gonna say!  I love that!!

Threads always drift, they are never predictable and you always learn something totally unrelated to the original posters topic. (hmmm.....sorta like this one!)

Gotta Love It!!

Oh yeah...before I forget....man am I glad I chose the Philippines!!

Hey Zulu, the Philippines Suck!!! hehehe..just kidding! People that say bad things about the Philippines have probably never been there. I really liked it there and the women are great but you have to watch yourself no matter where you go.There are always people out to take advantage of the unsuspecting foreigner.

If you are thin skinned it is best to stay away from the Latin side that's for sure. Living for today is the Latin American way of life and life is too short for not being "straight up" with each other. No need to mince words when discussing dating foreign women.

Hope you are around to make many more posts in the future.

Congrats Zulu on the grand!

As some here know, when I met my wife, I spoke more Japanese than she did English, and my Japanese was mostly ordering food, finding the bathroom, poor pick-up lines and martial arts commands (many are archaic samurai expressions.) Nonetheless we hit it off, and over the first few years we couldn't really have a conversation without dictionaries. Yes there were some difficulties and a few hard times, but with persistence we got through it. Her English improved markedly as did my Japanese, hers more than mine since we spend most of our time here, but neither of us are really fluent in each other's language to this day. I can follow women's Japanese well, but have difficulty following men's (it is spoken very differently.) I have learned to adapt in Japanese language social situations and have gotten to shut off the usual women's chatter, just as most English speaking men do when English speaking women get to gossiping amongst themselves. It certainly doesn't bother me, any more.

Your analogy of the Latin board being a frat party and the Asian a country club is funny and pretty true, but like most generalizations, there is a considerable spill-over. Patrick, the originator of this board something like 15 years ago, used to say that the personalities of the men on the different boards often mirror the stereotypes of the personalities of the countries of women - looks-conscious and easy to anger, calm and cerebral, complex and reserved (when the Russian board was a part) and so on.

Anyway, thanks for the participation. We appreciate and enjoy your participation.
