Because somebody lent it to them. Talk about a bad investment.

Puerto Rico is one of the best examples but the whole world is awash in debt. None of them will ever be able to pay it off or even maintain the interest payments. Including the US with 20 trillion and counting. Even now I don't understand why anyone takes US dollars. It's toilet paper.

We've been GIVING Israel over three Billion dollars a year in military aid for a while now. Last year, we signed off on a 38 Billion, Ten year deal. They turn around and spy on our military/industrial complex.

Estimates for what we've spent in Iraq and Afganistan (cant put a price on the 6,831 soldiers killed, over a million wounded) are anywhere from low end 2.4 to six+ TRILLION dollars. Are we much closer to peace or exiting there?

Meanwhile opium exports from Afganistan reach all time highs every year and thousands of US citizens die of overdoses.

We give away money to a lot of other nations as well, so many, in such differnt ways, that it's impossible to add up, but it's a lot. And not a large % is to prevent starvation or give farmers seed. More typically, it goes to the despots in charge, or the ones we want to put in charge.

The sad fact is that most of the citizens in these countries despise the US Govt.

We send over half a billion a year one way delivery, to a number of other nations, including 100s of millions to our dear comrades in Russia and Mexico

Meanwhile, our highways and bridges are falling apart, our best and brightest youth drowning in student loan indebtedness to the US Govt---debt that only death forgives early.

Who said: "Charity starts at home?"

But it's still the world's reserve currency/toiilet paper.  Whether you want to broker a huge deal on heavy equipment, ships, narcotics or weapons, they don't want Euros, yuan, yen, rubles or pesos. They want USD$.

But you're right, the whole world is not only awash in debt, but when the sh!t finally hits the fan in first world nations like Spain and Greece and basic services stop because the smoke and mirrors reality detachment no longer works, it effects tbe entire world's economy now, including ours. To the core, not just in terms of us sending more aid.

We'll all fold together. The  fairly recent pattern of global recessions is just getting started...

Not so bad. Canadian Province of Ontario has about $300 billion US debt and 3 times the population-

But Debt to GDP ratio is lower, granted

FWIW, I understand that any innovation that Israel has in military R & D is to be shared with us.

Canada is so under populated, given it's land mass. Then so many of the immigrants coming in don't have job specific skills to utilize the nation's vast natural resources, never mind work in intellectual capacities,  ie banks, insurance, technology. I'm pro immigration,  but for the sake of the nation, enough of them need marketable skills coming in to stop the socialistic handout morass from imploding the whole nation.

Unemployment in some at areas is awful too--they need new industry and training for it---the natural  resources and under utilized brain power lies waiting. Never could figure out why Canada never has gotten a handle on that. Smart, friendly people for sure.

Most UK, European nations, the USA have moved towards jobs involving thinking, intellectual property,  and everything manufactured, consumed is made, finished, processed overseas. Very little, aside from a few heavy equipment companies, some jet, aerospace and a fraction of former auto makers, remains. If a nation like that has weak, under utilized brains immigrating in, it's a big drain.

Supposed to be. When my Father was doing important business for what was then the USA's, actually the world's largest company, he never ever left his breifcase or computer in an Israeli hotel room. It was a foregone conclusion it would be examined.  Similar to China. I don't really have a grind against Israel, although I think they give the Palestinians an awful time and get the same back. But having known incredible persecution and suffering, there's little they won't do to ensure survival and staying ahead of things.

They do tweak and improve even some of our best weapons and technology very well. Their military abilities, including terrorism and urban warfare scenarios are hard to beat. I live in an area where there's a lot of elite US Army Rangers--the decisive, first strike guys, and they pay attention to what the Israelis embrace.

The present Canadian government doesn't want resource development. Just put up all types of road blocks killing project after project.

The  PM is popular because he is handsome, is legalizing marijuana, takes good selphies, accepts migrants from all over the world and the illegals trump doesn't want, gives billions of dollars to third world dictators-just to buy immigrant votes and to eventually get himself the UN chair job.

When I was in Israel it was great everyone talked to us and were friendly except the palestians who were the biggest [snip]s I ever met, all they did was try to rip us off our cash any way possible!

They're sorry ass people with a sorry ass lot in life, scraping for scraps. What's really odd, funny in a way, is you go to South Beach Miami, Key West-----really a lot of tourist trap places in the USA  and it's not unusual to see Israeli  and Arab guys with side by side stores, selling the same T shirts and trinkets. Here anyways, they're often good friends. I guess being out of that boiling pot over there and making money cools their jets somehow.

Did parts of Israel, mainly the beach tourist areas have an upscale, clean Miami Beach 'feel' to you, Fuzzyone?

The pics on line look pretty nice. In beauty contests, Israel typically has a hottie in the meat market. I've always said Jewish girls can be hot as hell, and for uninhibited sex ( once you've really 'got' them), this Catholic boy's never seen much better and has been around the world a few times. Some of them really put the 'K' in 'kink'...

Ruthie Golub, wherever you are,  call me! LOL

I went to Tel Aviv for a day and Ashodo where my sub was at... I was in the navy at the time. The beach in Aschdod was not so hot but I noticed that there was only young girls running around and old woman... no woman in their 20 or 30s whiched suck. I did meet a bar tender that I really wanted to go out with just did not have enough time.... cheese is not mixed with meat.... ketchup does not exit... and while I was there I met a lot of jewish husbands and wives that were very nice inviting us to there homes to drink wine and talk about the untied states....
