I am taking the plunge and jumping on the plane
« on: December 05, 2007, 02:54:50 AM »
Well guys I am going to get on the plane,

I have been reading this site since 1 month after my late
wife's death when I was in no shape to find someone.
Now it is 40 months after her passing and I am getting
on with life..

So I am getting on the plane this summer for 2 weeks
when my kids are out of school.. I am practicing my
Spanish and looking at Colombia, Ecuador, Peru
and Mexico.

I am going to follow UtopiaCowboy and KB route.
I am chatting with and looking for 29 yrs and up. I am
Looking at Senoritas that are widows, single moms
that have kids and or are single ladies with no kids..

After much research that seems to be the best long
term option for me and for my children... Sure I might
date a younger hot girl but I have to focus on my goals..
I have a plan and must work the plan.

The kid and the candy store affect is a big issue for
a lot of guys... Hey I might need somebody to come
down and kick me in the head in Colombia and say
wtf you doing with a 25 yr old.. jajajajaja

In all seriousness I want to find someone who is
beautiful , smart , loving , loyal , well educated , has
good values and loves kids...Someone who will
accept and come to love my children as if they
were her own flesh and blood(maybe too much
to ask)..

I am lucky that I have 3 very good amigas that I
have known for over 3 years(on MSN) that want to
check out any woman I get serious with 6 ways to
Sunday. Check her out by chatting with her on MSN.

I have to think about my kids also.. My decision will
have a major impact on them... Though I like my 11
yr old daughter choice in women.. She likes a good
Amiga of mine who is 23. She says she is pretty, I
told her she is too young for me and we are just
friends...

My kids are at the perfect age(8 & 11 yrs old) to accept
and love a new step mom into there life. I wish to thank
everyone for all the great info and stories and
motivation to start this journey...

UtopiaCowboy my fellow Canadian your story has
been an inspiration to me....Your comments and
stories over time has guided my decision...
By the way !! How old is your wife's co-worker
who is a widow ?/ :)

I very confident on my success in finding my
future Latina love.. I have one big plus going
for me... I met my wife via phone chat when
the web was just getting going.. I dealt with
a long distance romance of over 1100 miles
for 2 years..

I learned a lot about my late wife when we could
only talk or send letters... Thank you to UTC ,
Heat , Soltero and KB for harping on learning
Spanish many times in your posts...

To: CelticUrge , fathertime , DallasSteve , the late
great Pete E , Looking4Wife , Bundy , Dan Las Vegas ,
Bigstew33 , Calipro , EponyPrince , Gator , william3rd ,
jediknight , Iswote , Montrealer , mudd , Ray , zack and
Blockbuster to name a few. Thank you all for your
posts and stories that have been an inspiration to me.

To Papi thanks for sharing your success's and failure's..

To Okieman thanks for your 1 million questions on PL in
the fall of 2004.. What the heck happened to him after he
quit the board ?

I have not dated since my late wife's passing so
this is a big step for me.. I will always love my
late wife , she was the best... But I have to carry
on with my life.

To my love ,

I love you Yvonne but I need to love again and
I am tired of being alone.. Please understand..

The kids cry for you and they always will but they
want a woman around and another mom someday.
I swear that I will never let them forget you and
I will never forget you either..

I must head out into the sunset and find the lady
who is waiting somewhere...I pray that I find a
woman that is beautiful on the inside and will
make our children and I happy..

Goodbye my dear!! I must let you go, I will
always love you... Rest in Peace my love..
I will always cherish our 10 years together...

I can't write no more....

Your hubby,
Jeff

Buena suerte, dude, you deserve it.

Her name is Gloria and she works at the Coltejer plant in Itagui, a suburb of Medellin. She's in her late 30s but she's gorgeous. The widows!

Very nice post single!

You sound like your head is in the right place and I wish you luck.

Do you plan on getting your little ones involved in making the final decision if you find the right one?

Good for you SF!  Now that you have committed to going for two weeks this summer, I think you should consider stepping it up a bit and commit to one week during spring break or thereabouts,  in a few months as well.  You have to travel to win...Make it happen!

You deserve happiness . You wonderful late wife would not want you to suffer and be alone your whole life. I am sure that she is nodding her approval for you to go find happiness  because you have to live for yourself and your children now. Good luck and if I can help in any way with travel tips, ect, do not hesitate to PM me.

Well guys thanks for all your responses...

The last part of my post was cleansing for me..

Hey Ray,

"Do you plan on getting your little ones involved in making the final decision if you find the right one?"

That is a very good question... After I think I have found the right one.. I would consider taking my kids down their to see how they interact together... I would also consider letting them see her on the web cam , voice chatting and chatting on MSN..

I will have to think about that long and hard in order to protect my
children emotionally....

I've been away for a bit, but this seems like a good point to jump back in...

I can imagine this is a super big step for you, and I sincerely wish the best for you. I think you should pay Gloria a visit! hehe My wife is a paisa widow and over 30 too. I think it's a good choice, my wife is golden!

Now you got me wondering what happened to Okie? He popped in when Pete passed and that was the last I saw of him.

V-Dude

P.S. Sorry for the hijack, but I gotta do it since I haven't been around and they always supported me ... Congrats to you guys that got approved, and/or found someone in the past months! (I caught the threads, but had a lot going on)

I emailed Okieman after Pete died.  That is how he found out and posted his remarks.  I do not even think he lurks here anymore.  He was a helluva nice guy and one of my all time favorite posters.  Maybe he decided that this whole foreign woman idea wasn't for him.  I would be curious how he is doing.

Or maybe- he met someone, got married, and is too busy to lurk any more. Perhaps a status report would be in order. . . . .

He hasn't been on the sites in over a year and he "opted out" of his membership here (whatever that means).  In addition his email address that I had has also been discontinued.  Wherever he is, I hope Okieman is OK!

Tooo Bad. It is always a shame when somebody just disappears never to be seen again (assuming that they had pearls of wisdom to offer, like he did)

He did ask some off the wall stuff sometimes, but I think he was a pretty sincere guy. I liked him as well. I always thought he might be lurking, but after what FT says, I don't think so anymore. I guess I have closure now. hehe

I think the opting out was acepting the new agreement. If I remember correctly I was asked once to revalidate my account or something. I just got another one when I logged in yesterday which was a few months lapse.

I'm gonna have to go back and read the archives when I have time to reminise.
I imagine I will be able to appreciate and understand a lot more of it of it now.

Nice post sf and I sincerely hope you find what you are looking for.  You seem to be a great person that really loves his children.  Having two daughters of my own (15 & 11), I know the love and example that I try to be for them.  I truly respect a man that cherishes his children and lives his life as examples to them.  I know that with your goals and maturity, that you will have success in finding the quality that you seek.

Single father:

i enjoyed talking with you a couple of nights ago, I talked with Rocky last night and he said that he had just gotten off the phone with you.  You're a good guy, a really good guy and you know that you need to move on.  All of us on the board have been there (the crushing death of a beloved wife, like you, a marriage that lasted 62 days--and 14 hours, "if you count the loose change" like me).  I can't imagine the grief that you have felt afte rlosing your wife.

It took me a year to get over my last American marital venture and I'm getting on the plane on January 16.  There was something I did that moved me from depressed to happy, i bought non refundable plane tickets!  Even if you go this summer, let me suggest you buy the tickets now.  Jamie's agency in Baranquilla or Bogota, put them in a hat and pick one, there is no perfect choice, but if you analyze this 40 ways to the ace (like a lot of guys do) it gets harder and harder to get on the plane.

Go for it!

Regards
Dennis

Thanks Dennis,

I am definitely getting on that plane next summer no doubt about that I owe it to myself and my kids.. It was nice talking with both of you also.. Have a great trip you guys...I hope you find your special Latina !!

I am narrowing down where I am going to go...

1) Peru to see a girl I have been chatting with for a long time..

2) Either Barranquilla or Bogota.. What the heck maybe both..

I just don't want to put all my eggs in one basket in going to Peru though.. I am working on improving my Spanish language skills very seriously..
